(I'm going to put a ****load of examples here for comparison sake, just skim through the songs a bit)
I tend to like really happy and aggresive music.
What makes something like this sound (Melodic hardcore) really depressing to me:

What is it that makes these aggresive songs sound happy to me, yet other aggressive songs not?

also, my mother, (except for the direct hit song) Can't differentiate between any of this. It all sounds depressing to her. If it has distortion guitars like that, it sounds depressing to her, especially if it involves screaming(but I only let her hear the instrumental parts anyways because if I let her hear the screaming her ears will bleed).
