I'm not generally the biggest fan of straight-up black metal, but Orcustus is more than a little bit alright.

I like this style of music but can't stand the death growls. Does melodic black metal exist? This is the closest in style I'm aware of so far, but it's more industrial:

Well there's Ved Buens Ende. I don't know if I would call them black metal, but they evolved from Norwegian black metal, so I guess they're close enough. They're definitely not the kind of raw black metal this thread is talking about though. They're pretty avant garde actually.

Hmm I certainly used the wrong term then. I just meant raw black metal like has been posted so far, but with singing rather than growling.

Mondo, the Ythogtha track reminds me of Ancestors.

^^^ that is the whole second demo.

Also, Batlord, raw & avant garde black metal aren't mutually exclusive. The Ancestors demo could be called both, yah?

With my ****ty laptop speakers I couldn't be sure if this was music or someone had just weaponized exorcism recordings. Awesome.

lulz, you pretty much hit the nail on the head regarding the poltergeist thing. Here's the official blurb from youth attack in reference to the new ancestors release:
