I hate Critical Acclaim. Almost Easy is almost better, but nay it still sucks. City of Evil had a few rather good tracks, like Sidewinder and Strength of the World. Nothing on Waking the Fallen though.

However, as a whole, I'm beginning to think A7X sucks.

Default Avenged Sevenfold is Megadeth?

hello, I'm new here I I joined just to ask this question.

My friends don't listen to metal as I do, (they listen to crap) but they do like Avenged Sevenfold, somewhat idealize them. I've been surfing itunes for the past week or so trying to find new music, and I came across megadeth. After them, i decided to check out AS for my friends, thinking about buying one of their albums. But when I started listening to AS, I thought I heard a strong resemblence between AS and Megadeth. I'm not sure if it's just me, or did AS take on after Megadeth?

Eh no AVX are a diabolical insult to metal. As for Megadeth they are still going as strong as they were 20 years ago, just listen to their last album United Abominations. Maybe AVX are influenced by them to some degree but comparing the two of them is just silly.
If you're going to get into Megadeth get Peace Sells... But Who's Buying and Rust in Peace.

Megadeth and AVX are completely different. I wonder what it'd sound like if they did put there sound together. Probably wouldn't sound too good. But kind of interesting.

Megadeth is an interesting band; I believe the rhythm section (at least during the Rust In Peace era, not sure of any lineup changes) was jazz-trained, lending intricacy and sophisticated-ness to the music. Their lyrics are consistently political, and Dave Mustaine has one of the most unique voices in metal. They've also kept essentially the same sound since the beginning, which is a big way that Avenged Sevenfold has differed. They've reinvented themselves a few times over the years, moving through hardcore, epic thrash metal, and alternative rock. I don't see too much of a connection.

I have no idea what you mean by saying Megadeth's rhythm section is jazzy but I will say that Megadeth >>>>>> A7X

Dave Ellefson had some classical Jazz training.
