Ever since I've been here they've been slammed as representing everything bad about 90s metal..... personally I thought that was Korn

The main gripe seems to be their commercial angle and their second rate thrash sound.

The commercial angle is weak as people need to eat and I'd hardly call groove metal second rate trash.

Jeez, I always thought that Pantera didn't pander to the masses - the masses came to them.

They did have that weak glitch to their sound and style. Especially commercial wise, quite mainstream unfriendly.

I will say I've never seen a guitarist dominate the stage as soon as he powered up his guitar and amp like Dimebag Darrell did. I often find myself focused mainly on Darrell alone whenever I'm listening to Pantera.

Pantera doesn't actually have an overabundance of great material out there in my opinion. I don't know where they stand as far as recording landmark albums and all that.

I like about 4 or 5 songs by them, other than that, I haven't found anything else I like in particular.

Nah, just kidding I kinda like groove metal Pantera. I'm not sure how such an aggresive band got so mainstream though, it's strange.

They never were a mainstream band, at least not like Metallica was anyway.

Well, what I mean is, I was really surprised when I saw the viewcount on this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkFqg5wAuFk
and: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7m7njvwB-Ks

I know a lot of pop has way more, but as far as extreme metal goes, those are a lot of views.
