Question Cannibal Corpse or Death?

Bands that changed it all.
Excluding the vast amount of hate Cannibal Corpse get, (for a successful band) and excluding all the love Death get. If we were to rate these two fantastic bands on sound alone and what stays true to the Death Metal genre, who would prevail? Two bands setting some of the goals for extreme metal.

Personally I'll always prefer Death and not only is it the birth of Death metal, but the non-stop fantastic albums they made, exceptions to a few meh albums.
What about anyone else viewing the thread?

Though I'm not really a fan of either band, I would go with Cannibal Corpse just because the music is more accessible and easier to listen to.

Death was technically better, but I'm not a huge fan of offbeat time signatures in heavy music, I just prefer something that has a catchy tune, bands like Death & Morbid Saint put me to sleep.

Death bro! Chuck would've revolutionized the death metal scene if it wasn't for his random cancerous death.

How is Morbid Saint not catchy? Their riffs are pure death thrash, but they still are generally melodic. "Assassin" is one of the most memorable metal songs I know of.
