This is a really tough question you've posed, Leo. But it's pretty easy for me - my favorite, without a moment's hesitation, is Katy Perry. Shakira is a close second.

Robert Plant didn't have half the stage presence as Mick Jagger.
Not including the influence on punk by Jagger.

But were talking about two different eras and styles of rock here, so I also agree Plant is there.

I don't really know if this counts since he had so many genres over the years, but I'll go with David Bowie as my personal favorite not for his stage presence or anything, but just in how his voice makes me feel.

Okay, my serious answer now: in all of music, my favorite singer is Sam Cooke. Limiting myself to rock, uh, Nick Cave?

One of the best American vocalist for sure.

I think a lot of people miss out on the impact he had on glam and stage appearance.
He ranks up there with Marc Bolan, David Bowie and Elton John.

I would include Alice Cooper, but he falls more in theatrical/opera category.
