haha, I'm bad at reading in to things.

You said "Yet another band that does feminism proud" or something like that. So to me it sounded like you didn't care for them.

No I didn't. You misread: that was Batty. I just said I'd check them out purely on the basis that I loved their name...

Oh haha, well so I did.

At any rate...better make a post on topic or we'll get yelled at by the party poopers.

Sexism exists within the majority of genre's of music. Metal is not sexist. But people within it that are a part of its fanbase, and some bands too, within it, they're sexist, not all of them though. An entire genre cannot, or shouldn't be labeled as sexist just because sexism exists within it. That's just stupid people exhibiting ignorance. Sexism in general, is stupid.

This is a great point, maybe the genre isn't sexist but it is only targeted at women who like a more loud and powerful sound.

Maybe my newbie oar is unwanted in this particular thread but I'd just like to point out there are tons of bands with talented screamer/singer frontladies, just off the top of my head; Lacey from Flyleaf, Maria from In This Moment, Amy from Evanescence, Becca from Marmozets, Cristina from Lacuna Coil....whether they're particularly good songwriters or in particularly talented or creative bands comes down to personal opinion of course, but you can't argue that they all show that women aren't some bizarre alien race that physically can't do it, or are somehow being prevented by the industry.

Oh and all of the aforementioned ladies are incredibly hot, just so happens.

A great point, the talent is definitely there it's just a case of trying to change metal's reputation.

You could say pop is just as sexist for not having beardy guys wearing leather jackets and jeans bothering the top 10 every week?
