I always had a soft spot for GNR. I think Slash is an above average guitarist. Primarily for his great tone and I think hes pretty damn good at bend-sy blues and he really pulled out some amazing sustain with his setup. Certainly not worthy of a pedestal but certainly worthy of his place in rock history.

100% agreed. He's earned his place.

i don't remember where i read it, but i could swear that Axl Rose said that the follow-up to CD would take nowhere near as long to be released.............in 2008.

i could also swear i read something where he claimed the follow-up would be out no later than 2010/11.

i can't remember the source for these, so i can't say if they are accurate. i read these somewhere waaay back in 2008.

He's squeezed a lot of tunes out of a few chords and licks. He's no ground breaker, but he does well with his signature sound. The top hat, round rimmed sunglasses, long hair, and low slung guitar stance work an image that took the youth of most of the world by storm in the late 80's and he's managed to market that image to the nth degree through a couple of decades. That alone is an accomplishment worthy of his place in the books.

Here's some funny:

Drop a lyric.

I'll have to disagree with this statement.

Chinese Democracy was no Use Your Illusion 1 or 2, or Appetite For Destruction, but there are actually some pretty good songs on that album, enough to make it justifiable that I bought it. I was a little let down over the quality of the songs on the album, and I felt that Axl could have done better with it overall. Still. There are songs on there that are pretty good, at least half or more of them.

I agree. I got it just for the fact that Buckethead is on it, and there are some stand-out songs. You can hear B-Head using the same nylon string guitar on If The World that he used on the album Shadows Between The Sky.

Bumblefoot did a fine job too.

I thought it was later said by Axl or someone that Buckethead actually didn't play on the album at all, and they just used Bumblefoot? Honestly not sure haha.

If The World was probably close to my favorite song from the album. A fine vocal performance from Axl.

I clearly hear Buckethead, and he is listed as playing lead and acoustic on that one tune.

I'm sure you're right. I just couldn't remember.

Too much Axl ego. I wouldn't hold my breath. Slash appears to have moved on and he's the better for it.
