That's why it's so awesome. They were still primitive and ugly and unpolished, but it was really the first time they ever sounded like Slayer for an entire album.

While Divine Intervention was my introduction to the band, and I think "South of Heaven" is a truly wicked song, I chose Christ Illusion. I just love the energy this album has, and I really like Lombardo's drum work.

South of Heaven is near the pinnacle for good Thrash for me tbh. It was so technically abrasive, although I thought the vocals were a bit drowned out for most of it. Still better than what most of the four has released in the past few years by far.
