Favorite Glam Rock type band/artist
 

Hey what's your favorite one, Mine's Bowie.

Id have to say NY Dolls from that list, although i do love me some slade

On the list it was a tough choice between NY Dolls and David Bowie but I chose Bowie in the end.


But right now I'm contemplating why in the hell you don't have this guy on there!!!

what about queen? IMO they would beat all of them, although i like t-rex and slade aswell.

I didn't put in Queen because, in my humble opinion, they aren't that much glam, just really theatrical. Sorry, man.

Yeah, Bowie is best. Although I like Queen, too. Anyway I had to choose...
I love Bowie's old stuff, like "Hunky Dory". "Queen Bitch" is my fav.

motley crue are a great glam band so are poison

yeah I think the point is that its fave origianl glam 70's band???
Hard to not pick t-rex but hunky dory is an all time fave and ziggy is also classic.

Bowie wasn't Glam really - he was genre hopper.First Beat etc.,then Blue eyed soul,progressive pop (space oddity),Glam,proto punk(rebel rebel etc.),rock & soul ,dance pop(lets dance),proto new wave (sound & vision),Experimental/minimal,Experimental alternative rock (tin machine)etc etc etc

I went with Roxy Music just because everyone was voting for Bowie (whom I like equally).

alice cooper is not glam though i myself wouldn't know how to classify is genre. but not glam. he was too dark to be glam.

hair metal.

as much as i hate to quote metallica, even lars classified motley crue as glam. which they were hair metal i agree. but the makeup and the outfits definately would classify them as glam. in my own opinion.

What no Alice Cooper or The Tubes on this list:confused: This thread needs to be revamped, as there are a whole load of great artists who deserve to be checked out.

Bowie is the no-brainer, but he ditched the glam scene after diamond dogs. Second choice is Roxy Music, but I see them more of an art rock band/prog-band. The Dolls...what can you say about the Dolls other than they were great. Too Much Too Soon is one of my favorite records of all time. Not with standing all of this, I still voted for Mott the Hoople, which is the band I have the biggest soft spot for.

T. Rex (Marc Bolan) is like the Godfather of Glam Rock In my opinion. Bowie, Queen, Kiss, etc.
Motley Crue is my favorite "popular" glam rock band. A Good solid rock band.

That's super hard, I chose T. Rex. Then Bowie, Sweet, NYD.

Does Alice Cooper count?
