Holy ****, guys. Can we just be happy with the lists we have? I would argue that Pearl Jam and Stone Temple Pilots fit into the Post-Grunge category, because they do, but instead I'm just gonna say that what list the bands end up on doesn't matter as much as this.

Feel free to keep discussing whether bands are post-grunge or grunge, but I'm not switching **** around anymore, unless somebody can give me a way to get Creed and Seether off of the post-grunge list.

Plus beyond a few bands Grunge was pretty ****ty anyways.

Regardless, there are plenty of genres that have angsty lyrics. Grunge hardly has a monopoly on whining. And setting lyrics aside for a moment, what does Pearl Jam have in common with real grunge bands?

The longer they went on, the more 70's rock influences Soundgarden incorporated into their sound, but they never totally abandoned their grunge sound, otherwise I'd call their later albums post-grunge as well.

Obviously we're listening to different post-grunge.

I said a little. I live with fans of Creed, Live, Our Lady Peace, Silverchair, Audioslave, Blind Lemonetc. I myself am a fan of Foo Fighters, 3 Doors Down, Hammerbox, Hey, and Finger Eleven. I know post-grunge is angsty, but the point of grunge is to play as if the instruments were angsty. Post-grunge doesn't play their instruments as angrily. I guess for that reason, Ten is a great predecessor to post-grunge. But they carry the same anger, alternative/punk influence, lazy vocal delivery, and raspy guitars (at times).

Take it from a man who's listened to 170 grunge albums and runs a small grunge information site: Pearl Jam does fit the bill.

No. And are you really saying that Eddie Vedder, he who launched a thousand ****ty post-grunge singers, has more in common with grunge vocalists?

Can't Pearl Jam be both grunge and post-grunge? To me, they're somewhere in the middle. On Ten of course, after that, it was downhill all the way and more and more post-grunge.

Nah. I can't hear at all how they sound like a grunge band. They're just called grunge cause the media called them grunge to sell ugly, flannel shirts to kids with unwashed hair.

I hear grunge everytime I plzy it. Not post-grunge. If you think my ears are numb, keep in mind I'd logically have a better idea of grunge than you. I'm just not generally good at explaining sound.

Also, Eddie influenced post-grunge, keyword post. So yeah, I can put him in grunge.
