Default Black Metal You Should Know Because it Rules

There's two homos talking about thrash and that's just not badass enough, and they can't even keep it up.

So I've been called upon by the twelve floating deities to embark on a solemn quest deep into the darkest forests and fiercest winters to annihilate the untrue and **** like that.

Arizmenda - Within the Vacuum of Infinity
https://crepusculonegro.bandcamp.com...um-of-infinity

Arguably the most important aspect of great black metal is it's atmosphere, and that doesn't only apply to "atmospheric/ambient" black metal either. Even very formulaic or derivative music can be enhanced supremely by a distinct atmosphere. Arizmenda have a feel not unlike being chained in a dark and disturbing chamber in the center of the moon of some distant planet. I should say, the music isn't all that generic though, it's nothing outrageously progressive, but very well delivered, raw, dissonant, sometimes melodic and always obscure black metal. Although not entirely relying on being an atmo-BM group such as Darkspace or whatever, this has the similar claustrophobic and spacey all at the same time sound. The atmosphere is in fact quite strange, I think. In an esoteric way that I can't describe all that well (and that's usually badass).

So this album rules and all their other albums rule and you are now that much closer to the kingdoms bathed in sorrow and blasphemy.

First of all, great idea for a thread. **** thrash, on with the black metal.

Second, Arizmenda rule. From the first time I heard Stillbirth in the Temple of Venus I was hooked. I need to check out some of the other bands from the Black Twilight Circle though.

Ride For Revenge - Wisdom of the Few
https://rideforrevenge.bandcamp.com/...dom-of-the-few

If you ask me, RFR here do with black metal what Obituary do with death metal. That being said, there is a solid amount of DM influence here. But yeah, this is black metal for those people whose dicks get harder the bassier the music is. If you want it deep, muddy, murky, the lowest of the low end, mid paced and evil, well here you go. On MA it says the lineup for this album consists of someone on "all instruments, vocals" and another for just "bass". So I'm not sure if there even is any guitar here. If there is, they wanted it to be as bassy and rumbly as possible.

Mother****ing solid doomified and deathy black metal and listening to it will make you a little less of a poser.

Where music can be murky, this ****'s the god damn Tigris-Euphrates

Very.
Very.
Very.
Solid. Nothing more nothing less. Pure, slightly raw black metal that recalls Darkthrone and them bands. Killer BM riffs all over. So, if you like black metal, you'll like this. Because this is black metal 100%

You know what I bet you haven't heard?

Bekëth Nexëhmü - De dunkla herrarna

Very very solid again, but delivered in atmo-fashion. Really great and even beautiful at times.

Vediog Svaor - In the Distance

This is something else. Psychedelic black metal is such a small niche, but all of it is so good, and it couldn't possibly hurt to have more. This is a black metal album through psychedelic and progressive rock. They are black metal manifestations of your Led Zeppelins and your King Crimsons. It is very little known but a masterpiece and a real gem of metal.

It exists. And it is so good.

One of the most efficient artists delivering the ice cold hypnotic and atmospheric style perfected by the likes of Paysage d'Hiver and Darkspace and all them. I'd rank Fell Voices up there with them too. They have a sound and atmosphere of their own, very dark, thick, and foggy. More alongside the spacey stuff as opposed to the forest or glacier stuff. They also have pretty top notch quality, it's still raw, but in such an awesome way.
