Right but people that aren't fans of those genres would lump it all together. It all sounds the same to them. It is just like how all EDM gets labeled techno for people that can't tell the differences between the sub genres.

He is definitely Elvis popular. You think Back to the Future just picked a song for its protagonist to invent rock n roll with willy nilly? Just because it doesn't reflect your own childhood doesn't mean it isnt culturally relevant.

What teens do you know that are listening to Chuck Berry though. Come on now. I'm not saying he is culturally relevant. Most teens just aren't listening to his music. Also one song from BTTF doesn't count in the same way as someone listening to his body of work.

AARP member? You and I are pretty close in age DJ, if I'm a card holder, I'm sure yours is in the mail. And, yeah, of course I'd mention Chuck Berry and Elvis in the same context. I'd also mention Buddy Holly, Little Richard, and Jerry Lee Lewis in that same context. They're all legends from the early years of rock music.

Don't know if you're just being smarmy, but this is a really ****ed sentiment. We won't know what the inciting incident was (or if there even was one), but suicidal ideation might consume one's life one night and when they wake up the next day they're very happy they didn't do it. Speaking from experience.

I wouldn't argue Chuck Berry is obscure, but he's not as culturally known as Elvis Presley, as the most rudimentary use of statistics shows (Chuck Berry spike coincides with his death):
