IMO they released one great album (VDoP) and one good album (FBD) with one gawdawful track, GF&aBoP. The early albums are truly terrible.

I say just listen to their greatest hits albums and be done with them.

Yeah, but only because of the sheer number of people who think they're the best band of the 90s. I like Vulgar and Far Beyond Driven quite a bit though.

They have great instrumentals, but I always struggled to get past Anselmo's vocal delivery. so, yes they are overrated.

Subjective option aside;

All great players in their own right and as a unit,
Wrote some great music,
Inspired millions,
Played the largest metal show in history,
Created a sub-genre,
Breakdown to Domination

(IMO) Not overrated or underrated.
