So do you want to use different terms for free-market and socialised economies? I'm happy to do so. In fact, let's go with those two.

Was the Nazi Government free-market or socialised?

Edit: I'm actually going to bed now so I'll respond to the same response with the same response tomorrow.

Pretty sure I've answered this several times at this point so I'm just going to listen to Pearl Jam since that will be less painful.

Some of the tunes' rightness is tenuous, but it's a fun list. No doubt about #2, at any rate.

I was going to say this is probably the simple minded view you have

the problem with it is that's absolutely false and not at all what right and left mean

the further left you go the more anti-authoritarian you get

classical liberalism was an opposition to tyranny from monarchy

modern liberalism was an opposition to tyranny from private oligarchies ie Corporations

in the modern context that means more public control in the economy but "less gov" or "more gov" are not the defining aspects of these ideologies

That's why I defined exactly what I meant by left and right. And from that starting point the discussion is relatively easy if you agree to those terms. If not, we use different terms.

You posted some terms in the following post that were a little but nutters, but I'd be happy to go with something like conservative, liberal and socialist.
