I slowly grew out of them as I discovered better bands. But then, I had a revelation; after watching the video for "Before I Forget," I was like... "Do these guys actually think they've matured and are not the same 9 idiots like on their other albums?"

Their riffs are generic and catchy at most. NOTHING SPECIAL OR REMOTELY ORIGINAL! Their songs off the third album are alright to play; I bought a songbook of theirs and had recently tried playing some of the songs. I figure unless I can play this stuff, I shouldn't be boasting about how talentless their guitarists are.

Nowadays, I listen to them here and there. I think they need to take the masks off, get rid of the Sampler guy and two percussionists, and trade in their singer. The only people on the band that have the potential to be great are Joey, Paul, Jim, and Mick. They just need to cut the bull**** and commit to being more creative. I'm not talking technical **** like Necrophagist or whatever, just something not so nu-metal.

No matter how much they suck, I do think "Vermillion" was really good. Every band has at least one great song.

The fans of Slipknot haven't pissed me off..... yet. I'm still awaiting the day I wear my Cannibal Corpse shirt to some concert, and some "maggot" will argue how Cannibal Corpse relies on their gore and album imagery to gather a fan base, and I'll refute that, and we start arguing.

I agree. I like slipknot, and i'll admit that for a while a loved them. This is because I found their first CD a few years back, gave it a listen, and enjoyed it. It had a lot of emotion and metal to it that i've never heard before.

then i looked them up...

I wanted to like them so much, but i couldn't take them seriously.

The sad thing is, if they decided to drop the masks and get serious for the next album.....it would be a little to late.

YEah, they can't really change their style to something more productive and creative because they've stuck with nu-metal for so long. I mean, how do you think people would react if hell froze over and they started playing something more extreme like death metal? How would they fit their old material in with that for live performances, compilation cd's, and so on?

I do think it's never too late to take off their masks. They've already been seen without them (I think all of them), so what's the point? What WAS the point in the beginning other than getting attention?!

Slipknot REALLY blows. In the long run no one remembers ****ty gimmicky bands, people will remember talented and musical bands.

Dude, alot of the people I know don't know any good bands NOW. How are they going to remember them years later?

Just because they're ****ty doesn't mean they'll be forgotten. In fact, their ****-ness is what people will remember.

talented and musical......cool.

People remember bad bands. Look at almost every mainstream artists from the 80's. They just wont achieve a beatles fame though.
