The United States of America's self-titled album sounds so much better than the individual parts that went into its creation.

A formally trained, avant-garde classical composer with an obsession with turn-of-the-century jazz and the Great American Songbook wants to make an ultra political, psychedelic rock album with electric sounds made by homemade instruments and no guitars.

What should have been an unintelligible mess ended up as one of the best psychedelic and experimental albums of the 60's.

It's phenomenal, but is it really that weird?

Same goes for Silver Apples, Exo.

To be fair, your opinion on what is weird or not is incredibly different from like 90% of everybody else on this planet.

That's not fair either since 99% of everybody else on the planet is dumb as ****.

Kinda what I was getting at earlier, but I think the perceived weirdness gets undercut because USA sounds as good as it does. It's an experimental album and a relatively accessible album, and neither of those facts disqualify the other.
