pastor of muppets 06-05-2005 08:08 AM

is that one album or two?

Imonlydancing 06-05-2005 08:47 AM

its one album.

Sneer 06-05-2005 09:13 AM

nooooo stay away from that album. you want siamese dream or gish. their 2 best albums. or just get the greatest hits.

Imonlydancing 06-05-2005 10:24 AM

shuuush. its a good album. he can get them all. but yeah, gish is an awesome one. get that one. get them all....okay, yeah greatest hits may be a good idea.

Trauma 06-05-2005 04:14 PM

I compare Nirvana to Smashing Pumpkins in some ways.

Nevermind- Gish
In Utero- Siamese Dream or Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
Incestide- Pisces Iscariot

All I have is Siamese Dream and I have "Zero" and "1979" from Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.
I want to buy that album and Gish but I don't have the cash.
I'd say MC&TIS is a pretty good album.
I mean I think it has like 20 something tracks and they all look like pretty good songs.
Siamese Dream is awesome.
Cherub Rock, Quiet, Today, Hummer, Disarm, Soma, Spaceboy, Mayonaise, Silver****, Luna, and Tonight, Tonight are great songs.

pastor of muppets 06-05-2005 08:21 PM

alrighty ill get gish first then the others....

Imonlydancing 06-06-2005 12:22 PM

Just to help ya, there's a search function at the top of the page, I'd use it if you dont want your threads to turn into arguments that have nothing to do with the subject.

pastor of muppets 06-16-2005 08:09 AM

which will probably happen anyway...... but it may help slightly in you not getting flamed

billy corgan to reform the pumpkins

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Singer Billy Corgan said on Tuesday he plans to revive The Smashing Pumpkins, his Grammy-winning band which broke up in 2000 after more than a decade of blending alternative rock with the avant-garde.

In full-page advertisements in Chicago newspapers, the bald-headed Corgan said, "I want my band back, and my songs, and my dreams."

He did not say which if any of the band's former members would be involved in the revived group, which broke through with albums such as "Gish" and "Siamese Dream."

The Pumpkins' top selling album was "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" which came out in 1995, but as the 1990s progressed their work became increasingly obscure as tensions arose in the group.

They broke up over differences among its four members and Corgan has since jumped from project to project but failed to match his early success.

Corgan, based in Chicago, has just released a solo album, "TheFutureEmbrace" on Reprise Records.

He did not say when he would try to reform the Pumpkins but the new album "represents a new beginning, not an ending. It picks up the thread of the as-yet-unfinished work and charter of The Smashing Pumpkins," he said.

Trauma 06-22-2005 02:05 PM

"the bald-headed Corgan said"

Sry lol.

Yeah I think Corgan realized that he wasn't going to get enough fans working as a soloist.
I sooo wish the pumpkins would reform, that would be amazing.

I'm still planning to buy TheFutureEmbrace though... :hphones:

The Smashing Pumpkins

Recently I found the I Am One UK single at a record store here in Vancouver, Canada and listened to the old Gish-era B-sides that I hadn't heard in ages. Tracks like 'Plume' and 'Starla' reminded me just how amazing the Smashing Pumpkins were over their varied lifespan. "My boredom has outshined the sun/" Billy sings on Plume, back when their tracks sounded more alt-rock, more Nirvana-grunge, if you know what I mean.

What I'm trying to say is talk about the Smashing Pumpkins and/or Billy Corgan. Sorry if a thread has already been started.

boo boo 12-13-2005 11:44 AM
