Pumpkins were great in thir time, lots of good songs, I found Corgan to be a bit of a self indulged whiner though...bassist Darcy was cool though!I especially love the video for "Try,Try,Try"

When I look at this thread all I see is talk about Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie but what about Gish? What does anyone think about that album? I think its their best cd, but that's just my opinion.

If he'd trimmed the dross off that album and made it one cd instead of a pointless two cd set then it could've been better than Siamese Dream. But he didn't, so it remains a record where the skip track button is your friend.
I actually invested in that box cd set that came out right after Mellon Collie... it was interesting, but right then and there i knew they were changing their sound, and didn't like it. I agree with franscar.

Honestly, they should have stopped after Siamese Dream. Gish is a good album, I'm not much of an SP fan to begin with, but I would agree that it is their "best." Their career just progressively spiraled down the toilet with each album release. That is all I have to say.

yeah, for my 14th B Day I got a cd player and 2 cd's and they were Garbage(self titled) and Gish...really good album...I can barely remember the names, but song #1 was really good, and that acoustic on with Darcy was great! I think that was like the second last song or somethin'?

Gish must be one of those things that people forget about until someone mentions it.

Gish is incredible, i love that album. Siamese Dream was really good too, but i honestly think thats overrated somewhat. Mellon Collie was an amazing album, one of the best i have ever heard. But adore and machina, were sub-par for what the pumpkins could really do. But you could tell that they were going to switch over to electronica-pop after Mellon Collie. I dont really like that stuff. But Mellon Collie hits nearly every type of rock effectively and they even hit electronica, which some of their electronic stuff on that album is ok. I just love how they play each type of rock soo well and stuff outside of rock.

Default umm, not sure

[QUOTE=TheBig3KilledMyRainDog]I dig the pumpkins, I think they were better than nirvana, but when it comes to the so called grunge scene, soundgarden is hard to top.

What the heck are you talking about?? The Smashing Pumpkins were less than Nirvana in the grunge scene because even though TSP and Soundgarden were classified as grunge, Nirvana are the ones that made them famous...ignorance is bliss though. Think what you want.
