Beyond the things they have in common, yeah. What's the point of talking about "Venus in Furs" or "The Gift" or "Black Angel's Death Song" or "Sister Ray" in comparison to the Ramones?

And still lol @ Ramones being a full blast assault that's a good one bro.
Bro, you don't hear it? I get that it's easy to see them as lite in 2019 and with Joey as a singer but they're relentless af. They've got a rhythm you have to connect with on more than just an intellectual level but when you do your whole body feels it and I can't say that almost at all about VU or to the same extent for the Stooges.

Just imagine Iggy Pop singing over this.

I don't see the point either which is why I was referring to their songs that explore the stripped down rock n roll sound. Though I'd say that Sister Ray has that definitive energy.

I guess you could call monotony relentless but I think that's pretty deceptive.

Deceptive? What kind of pretentious **** is that? If it works it works.

Edit: oh wait you don't get that song, of course, that's why you think I'm pointing out a song that's monotonous. I'm pointing out a song that's particularly "aggressive" (or the Ramones version) and would suit Iggy more than a poppier song.

Deceptive means misleading. I wouldn't call that track relentless.

The Batlord 08-14-2019 02:36 PM

see edit

I'm honestly assuming you just missed that the song wasn't randomly chosen cause you just can't tell the difference between any given Ramones song.

Frownland 08-14-2019 02:38 PM

Ok.

I still wouldn't call it relentless. It has some aggression, sure, but nothing that stacks up to The Stooges.

The Batlord 08-14-2019 02:40 PM

Shrug. I guess being a former right winger puts me on Johnny's wavelength. You're missing out.

The Batlord 08-14-2019 02:52 PM

I mean but for ****'s sake the way Johnny plays! Those notes are magnetically attached and there's so much energy and it's more exhausting than bands that play three times as fast.

Great song and from any other band it would be considered stone cold proto-punk but you're still a plebe and Johnny > Jimmy.
