"Moving Pictures" is my favorite album, but surprisingly I don't really like 'The Camera Eye', so my choice is '2112' here

There's only one correct answer, and that's The Necromancer:
|
The poll is bullshit because I can't select the entire Cygnus suite.

Love Rush, but to be honest my favourite period is the 1980s after they had stopped doing the epic tracks. None of those tracks would be a favourite of mine, though I do own all the albums the come from.
|
Where is Natural Science on this list?
On Permanent Waves, they proved that they didn't need to take up a whole side again to create another "epic". LESS can definitely be MORE. In short order, they nailed it. Quintessential Rush! :tramp: |
i like rush because they are so different and have been around for so long..neil pert one of the best on drums and geddy is a very underrated bass player..one of the best three guys band ever..i like the self titled album called rush released in 1974..and the song Lessons.

You should definitely give it another listen Invoke.... Time has been a lot kinder to it than it gets credit for. It's arguably the "lost classic" in the Rush catalog. Four out of five stars. :thumb: |

Overall, the songwriting improved tremendously in the 80s. Also, their uncanny ability to draw from contemporary influences and incorporate them into the "Rush sound" was absolutely astonishing! Sadly, we'll never see a band of Rush's caliber ever again. Neil Peart R.I.P. :( |

I think it was left ALL ANALOGUE and it sounds great!! Moving pictures and signals were digitally mixed and dont sound that good ON THE RECORD. |

One of my favorite people I've never met. I can understand why he didn't feel like playing after Neal passed. Looking forward to his new stuff.

He’s a spectacular guitarist with a great signature sound.
I’ll respect any direction he wants to take his music in the future but I hope he makes an instrumental solo guitar album at some point. No drums bass vocals just him playing the guitar. All three of them came off real well in the media. Never ****ting on each other or any of that as far as I know. They always seem to appreciate their lives and their fans and their good fortune. Plus, they’re the least pretentious prog rock band of all time and in my opinion one of the top three with Yes and Genesis. (I don’t consider Floyd prog) I know there’s people who will crucify me for this but I like them much more than King Crimson. |

This is new to me..Rush.. but just listening to this video right now, seeing how much the songwriters actually put in...unbelievable..no, not when you hear them talk about their passions for music. ..............A Video worth taking the time out...

Awesome, and thanks for ^ that ^. I haven't seen that one yet.

Ummmm... what?
Alex Lifeson is working with Tom Morello and Kirk Hammett on new material Interesting combo. |
|
I'm listening to Alex's latest contribution, called Envy of None. I'm liking it. It has a bit of a Garbage vibe to it. The singer has a great voice.
As for the "holy triumverate", their place in my household is tenuous. I listen to them. My wife, she is one of the many who just don't like Geddy's voice. I get it. I have friends who don't like R.E.M. or Radiohead because of the vocals. |
Did you ever get to see Rush in concert? I was fortunate enough to see them in 1981. Decent show.
|
You saw them in '81? Nice! I really only started to like them around Grace Under Pressure. I was fascinated with the Distant Early Warning video.
I've seen them three times. Each time, I did not go home disappointed. I got my money's worth. It's a tragedy that we'll never see them on stage again. At the same time, they stuck around, and remained relevant, for forty years. Not many bands can say the same. |
1. 2112 (my most favorite Rush song)
2. Xanadu 3. The Necromancer (maybe the most underrated song from Rush's catalog) 4. Cygnus X-1 5. The Camera Eye 6. Hemispheres 7. Fountain of Lamneth I like them all but FOL is easily the weakest epic. By-Tor & Snowdog, La Villa Strangiato and Natural Science are missing in the poll! |
