sexy_drug 08-22-2005 06:02 AM

Good we must gather as many people as possible and stand up the evil Geddy Lee hatin' Midgley or as he goes by on this site puddin

puddin 08-22-2005 06:22 AM

I hate you Barwise. And Rush.

Geddy Lee is just so god-awfully bad and annoying!

hes not a bad vocalist at all IMO...his tone takes a while to get used to but as an actual singer he is above average with some decent range...but theres a hell of a lot more to geddy than his vocals...dont forget hes one of the most gifted bass players to ever roam the earth. ;)

Zygomycota 08-22-2005 08:15 PM

dude, i love Rush. I have all of their studio albums. I need to go out and get the live ones some day though. Because.............they rock!

sexy_drug 09-09-2005 03:44 AM

^ Suck On That Midgley Yeeeaaaaaaa

Zygomycota 09-09-2005 03:50 PM

yeah,.....or else....something

hellohelen 09-16-2005 03:49 PM

know anything about RUSH?

hmm... I wonder if this is the place to get help?? I am visiting Canada, from the UK, my boyfriend is a big fan of rock music and also a drummer with a birthday coming up... problem: I know nothing about either rock or drumming! Doing my research like a good girl who knows a little about bday presents, I have learnt that Canada is the birthplace of RUSH, renound as one of the top classic Rock bands, not only that but containing one of boyfriend's best loved drummers... Neil Peart.

He has none of their records. I want to get an LP for him. Know nothing about LPs.

To cut a long story short I have no idea where to go from here. Which LP do people in the know think is the finest representation of rock and drumming? I gather that Moving Pictures, Hemispheres and A Farewell to Kings seems to be battling for top place... I've found 2 "collector" LPs of Hemispheres, one is a picture disc one is red vinyl... (?) for $25 and $20 respectively...

Shall I just chuck in the towel and get a DVD!

Need some guidance from people in the know... Rock lovers help please? :o)

TheBig3 09-16-2005 04:32 PM

I don't really care for them, so if I've heard of a record, that means it might be popular. Try:

2112
Permenant Waves

and I think their greatest collection is "spirit of the radio"

If none of this pans out their most popular song is "Tom Sawyer" and "free will" kicks ass.

fidelityfiend 09-16-2005 04:36 PM

Rush is an excellent band - especially the first 6 or 8 releases. If you go with a DVD "Rush In Rio" is a great choice. For pure music listening I would recommend "2112" or "Hemispheres" - both are outstanding.

hellohelen 09-16-2005 04:37 PM

COol I'll mosey back down to to record store and look for some of those... the people there seem to know nothing!!! Cheers!

TheBig3 09-16-2005 04:40 PM

Thats usually the case, I don't know who employees the people there, but they never have job openings and they never have a clue.

Urban Hat€monger ? 09-16-2005 04:46 PM

Well Farewell To Kings is the usual poll topper when it comes to Rush albums.

If that fails then there`s always sexual favours.

Which is way WAY better than a rush CD.

hellohelen 09-16-2005 04:59 PM

What a shame... I thought Sexual Favours might have been the title of their best ever... could've killed 2 birds with one stone.

Hey, enough with the hatin' on Rush! They've influenced so many musicians it's not even funny.

Urban Hat€monger ? 09-16-2005 07:26 PM

I`m not hating on Rush , I just think getting my **** sucked is better than listening to 2112

Soundgardener 09-16-2005 07:41 PM

Ok, that's nice. If you don't like to listen to there music that's fine with me, but they are an important part of music history.

boris jawaka 09-17-2005 04:12 AM

all ive got by Rush is the feedback e.p. which i bought because it has the Seeker on it.

great great album

boo boo 09-17-2005 04:16 AM

Hell yes, i love them.

fenderjazzforever 04-27-2006 12:14 PM

Rush....age isnt an issue

I was just thinking, rush may be some old people, but their music is incredible...i'd have to say that these guys are definetly one of the main influences of progressive music and how about geddys bass....could anyone ask for a sweeter bass?

tdoc210 04-27-2006 12:17 PM

mmm they are very good 2112 is awesome

MURDER JUNKIE 04-27-2006 12:18 PM

I agree, Rush are a brilliant band and Geddy is very talented.

Urban Hat€monger ? 04-27-2006 01:47 PM

2 words

Peter Hook

:D

swim 04-27-2006 02:12 PM

I love Geddy, he's great.

PostPsychosis666 05-06-2006 02:11 PM

Gedddy Lee & Neil Peart are absolutly amazing.
Rush is a fantastic band, 2112 is an amazing experience everytime i listen to it, which seems to be all the time.

Rush is one of the most influential bands of all time, in my opinion.

Seltzer 05-06-2006 05:54 PM

I love Rush. Despite it being corny at times, you can tell they have fun making music. And it's progressive rock with soul. Effort goes into the songwriting. They're all masters at their instruments. And the vocals are an acquired taste :).

Well... Great musicians they are... But if we are talking about quality songwriting in prog, they don't compare to Roger Waters, Robert Fripp, Ian Anderson, Peter Gabriel and Peter Hammill. IMO.

And like ELP the lyrics aren't really that important, they just let the music do the talking.

I love Rush, though i think they are a little overrated compared to other lesser known but equally talented prog bands.

Right now, Rush is my fav prog, but I'm really liking Camel.

I like a fair few prog bands. I like Rush, ELP, Yes, Pink Floyd, King Crimson and Genesis. I like some rarer ones like Camel, Atomic Rooster, Goliath, Autumn People, Fuzzy Duck, Egg, Jade Warrior, Art and Gong.

I like some modern prog like Porcupine Tree, LTE and Radiohead. I'm getting into Jethro Tull, more ELO, Hawkwind, Ozric Tentacles and Mars Volta.

Also, I don't know if you've heard, but Mikael Akerfeldt (Opeth) is a huge fan of rare and obscure psychedelia and 70s prog. And I'm finding that I like that music.

boo boo 05-07-2006 06:02 AM

There are a lot of unlikely prog fans... Flea, Vincent Gallio, Jack Black and even Johnny Rotten for example.

bruise_violet 05-07-2006 10:23 AM

I love the vocals! They are quite different.
