Rock didn't, rock n roll did. Please explain to me how I'm wrong? All you did was restate yourself, you didn't actually tell me why I was wrong. Great method for avoiding the question though!

Before I get started, let me say, I love KISS. I bought their albums, and a few of the merchandise items (there were hundreds, possibly thousands). I still love KISS, to this day. But not the KISS of today.

It's no secret Gene Simmons is all about the money. He's never said any different. That's not opinion. That's fact.

KISS wrote mediocre songs, musically, with mediocre lyrics. They sang about either chasing the girl, getting the girl, scr*wing the girl or what have you. That's was 90% of their repretiore. That's not opinion, that's fact.

I was there, I lived it. I grew up in the 70's and early 80's. KISS was huge, yes, but influential? No. Not musically, anyway.That would be like a 2nd grader teaching a college professor. KISS didn't influence anyone musically, because they were not original, musically. They stretched no boundaries, took no chances, experimented exactly zore times, musically. That's not opinion, that's fact.


There is no way they influenced anyone, musically. The only thing KISS influenced was a look. From Glam Rock, they went overboard, with white face paint, pyro, etc, etc, etc. From KISS came the spawn known as Hair Metal. Motley Crew, Ratt, Poison (ha ha, rat poison), Cinderella, and a ton more. They all wore make up, and played songs about getting the girl, in basic chord progressions, same as KISS. Nothing innovative or groundbreaking. That's not opinion, that's fact.

Finally, KISS was not the most influential band of the 70's, musically, or image-wise. Their first album came out in 74, but they didn't gain huge fame until 77 or so. Their influence didn't show up until the future hair band members got through puberty and started bands in the 80's.

So, a more accurate staement would be "KISS was the biggest influence on the hair metal bands of the 80's"
