Re-Imaginos from Bouchard is out. Not sure what to make of it yet but in my search for info, I happened across this:

It's strange to hear "The Siege..." without those beautiful ivorys kicking in and Joe Satriani's guitar offering:

A song from their new album 'The Symbol Remains'...

Blue Öyster Cult - Florida Man

I don't see myself buying a copy of the album but it's good to hear the old B.O.C. humor still intact and flourishing.

Well, this one slipped under my radar. I haven't listened to Curse of the Hidden Mirror yet, but Heaven Forbid gets a lot of play from me. Real World and a few others off of that one are pure BOC goodness. I'll be giving this one a spin. Thanks for the heads up!

Florida Man sounds like some golden-era Ween. Really like it.

I was never really fond of that tune, even more so when we played it in a band I was in. The crowds loved it though and the rest of the band always seemed to have a lot of fun with it. Our other guitar player had the Japanese part down pretty good:

Rinji news o moshiagemasu!
Rinji news o moshiagemasu!
Gojira ga Ginza hoomen e mukatte imasu!
Daishikyu hinan shite kudasai!
Daishikyu hinan shite kudasai!

Translated to English:

Attention, emergency news!
Attention, emergency news!
Godzilla is going toward the Ginza area!
Immediately escape, catch up, find shelter please!
Immediately escape, catch up, find shelter please!

Blue Öyster Cult was my top favourite band back in my late teenage years - when I was suffering from a bad case of schizophrenia. I was a psycho. And the music of BÖC struck a chord with me because it was so darned *weird*.

I seriously believe that the music of BÖC helped me to recover from my psychosis. Because that weird music gave me something which motivated me to focus on something *outside* of my own consciousness. Listening to the first two LPs released by BÖC was like therapy for me. For I was for the first time in quite a while focusing on something out there in reality.

So BÖC will always have a special place in my heart. It was the first rock band (besides the Beatles) which I fell in love with.
