I'm sad this is in the Classic Rock section (which I didn't notice until today). Def Leppard was great for about a decade. Lyrically no, but the musicianship kicked butt, with maybe an unmatched layer of sound. Unfortunately, from what I've seen from recent televised live performances, Joe Elliot's voice is shot. Although people say it's rebounded a bit thanks to quitting smoking.

I used to be a big Def Leppard fan back in the 1980s, before I ever really got into metal (I know that sounds ilogical) Its when I got into metal properly that I realized that they were nothing great, but full marks to them though for being one of those perfect gateway bands into metal. Pyromania is still a great album despite sounding a bit dated.

I have their appearance at the Reading Festival in 1980 somewhere.
They were pretty good back then.

Why is it ridiculous?

I'd sooner listen to Van Halen than to Def Leppard.

I thought you were a huge Def Lep fan?

I used to love Van Halen, now I think they are more hilarious. That "Tattoo" song is bloody awful. Should have never reformed. With material like that, is it worth it?

At least a song like "Hot for Teacher" had a fun kinda of stupidity to it. Which is about all Van Halen was, fun stupidity. But they get boring fast.

I was when I was a kid, listen to them now and again but I actually think Van Halen's discography has more longevity and a better listen.
