I have a feeling Jim and I would get along just fine, as long as he didn't start reciting poetry or some sh!t

except for Love Gun ;)

boo boo 10-07-2006 09:18 PM

Good, but nothing great.

It's sad that their best song ended up being much better when it was covered by someone else.

Of course I'm talking about The Replacements cover of Black Diamond. ;)

shiftael 10-07-2006 09:20 PM

but I couldn't ressit taht one sorry, back to Jim Morrison, thought he was all right, preferred Janis Joplin, m'self tho.

boo boo 10-07-2006 09:25 PM

You heard the story about when Jim Morrison and Janis Joplin met?

Wasn't a pretty picture.

I voted yes, he was the man, but that is only because he was the man for the Doors and did a good job making great music with them.Other than that though, I'm not gonna call him the "man" because he was cool or had a decent personality or anything like that though, ya know?

no i havent. tell!

TheBig3 10-07-2006 09:33 PM

yeah whats that story?

boo boo 10-07-2006 09:39 PM

Jim and Janis met at a party, they were sitting next to each other, both were pretty drunk, Jim was especially drunk off his ass, so he proceeded to grab hold of Janis's hair and tried to force her to give him oral sex on the spot, she proceeded to smack Jim in the head with her trusty bottle of Jack Danials, easy to say they didn't get off on a good start.

It was in a Jim Morrison biography.

Well, atleast she smacked him in the head instead of his lower area.

shiftael 10-09-2006 04:14 PM

actaully, I hadn't herd the whole thing, thanks for enlightening me!
Heard Alice Cooper and Joplin met back in the day, too.

tdoc210 10-09-2006 09:10 PM

i actually enjoy him, though hew was basically a living drug. i like the doors, and the movie the doors was good, if not odd.

boo boo 10-09-2006 09:58 PM

I don't get why people dislike Morrison so much, he just partied hard.

dog 10-10-2006 06:07 AM

Yeah, nothing wrong with abusing woman...

Mama Booze 10-10-2006 02:07 PM

I adore Jim! I'm a huge Doors fan in fact, Joplin too (that's funny by the way, that story haha.). And I laugh at everything so his drunken/drugged self amused me. And the solo's were amazing.

Abusing women.

And to be fair, Jim Morrison didn't specifically target women, he abused everybody equally. :D

I'm just saying he's not really any different from most rock stars today, and that most likely includes some of the ones you idolize yourself.

And I don't get this whole judging musicians/singers or whatever strictly by their personality (Bono haters, you know who you are) thing... God forbid I can find a big personality flaw in every rock star that has ever lived, I can go on about how Pete Townshend is a child porn lovin' douchebag, how John Entwhistle was a closed minded jackass who was quick to call all hip hop trash and that Keith Moon was a drug pushing wifebeater... Hell I'll just go ahead and say it, if you like The Who you pretty much qualify as a bad human being.

At least going by the logic that's being used.

Which of course would be ridiculous.
If we only liked artists that had a squeaky clean lifestyle...we'd all be Cliff Richard fans. :(
Which of course would be equally ridiculous, not to mention obscene.

As for the drunken junkie...he made good stuff.
I like the man's music.

In fact, I would happily strangle the life out of Cliff Richards, if it meant bringing Morrison back.
And never again having to hear some twat, singing that Summer Holiday song, everytime I board a plane.

ima big fan of Jim hes a rock idol in my opinion

Whirlwind Disaster 10-25-2006 01:14 PM

He was an absolute tosser apparently, and i have no time for egotists. That said, i'm a huge fan of poetry in songs and you dont get much better than Morrison if your looking for poetic lyrics.

boo boo 10-25-2006 06:03 PM

I wouldn't say that, his lyrics could range from cool to just downright silly.

He was an amazing frontman though.

Whirlwind Disaster 10-26-2006 07:21 AM

i definetly would. They may have been silly in some instances but they had a poetic quality about them.

stevemallory 11-02-2006 01:40 PM

like him? check my sig? what do you think?

Falcon 11-17-2006 09:27 PM

Jim is indeed the man. I would consider him one of the best singers of all time, up there with Freddie Mercury and Robert Plant. I can't lie, Light My Fire is pwn.

Mama Booze 12-08-2006 06:42 PM

Happy birthday Jim :D. RIP<3 63 years<3

tdoc210 12-08-2006 09:04 PM

jim was born the same day lennon was shot well datewise, as in the day of the month, not actual year

Mama Booze 12-08-2006 09:05 PM

I know, isn't that something? :(
