What exactly is the correlation between Poison and Ac/Dc? The only song I can really think of where Ac/Dc mentions parties is "big Balls" which if you took seriously, then yes. You are a pretentious twat.

Poison is most known for a ballad. Ac/Dc has had one slow song (easy rider is it?) in their entire discogrphy as I recall.

Brett Micheals is a pretty boy bitch with his own reality show. Pick a singer for Ac/Dc and we'll go about disproving that.

I don't see a damn thing about them that was glamorous. One of them dresses in a school boy uniform which might be the least flattering rock attire in history and I've see Justin Hawkings in a unitard.

You are correct in your accusations of Kiss and Poison, but comparing Ac/Dc on any of those points is misguided at best and most times I just think "god damn teenagers and their cursory outlashings"

ROCK AND ROLL!" to me thats the stupid and embarrassing mindset that glam metal bands later would follow. So to sum this up, fuck sex, drugs, rock and roll. All the bands that came after AC/DC playing a similar type of music, Motley Crue, Poison, all that sunset strip crap basically stood for sex, drugs, rock and roll, partying etc, most of them followed all those cliches except for dying young. So thanks to glam metal bands of the 80s being too stupid to die. We now have a bunch of washed up musicians who are even more mediocre then when they were in their 'prime' going on countless reunion tours, playing casinos and state fairs for a bunch of rednecks in Kentucky. Thats just one of the reasons I hate AC/DC, what they stood for, and what glam/hair metal stood for.

I've never cared for the whole sunset strip scene, it all sounds dated and unintelligent and its all very pompous and overblown. I think Kiss are a fine example of this, they probably put more effort into their merchandise then their music, which is pathetic. Same can be said for every hair metal band pretty much, except Guns and Roses. They probably spent more time focusing on their image, stage presence and make up then actual songs. Which isn't shocking if you listen to their songs, the same formula, and the same crappy party time lyrics, the music isn't good. AC/DC isn't good. I don't like the vocals, they're annoying screeching. Their average musicians from what i've seen, and its very repetitive as has been pointed out, they made the same song over and over as has also been pointed out and I guess they don't care. Because it 'sells' which is very 'rock and roll' I guess and i'm just 'too pretentious' to understand it.

Fair enough, but if "some people" dislike something does that make it suck?

I can TOTALLY understand why you don't like that menatlity. I stay away from glam metal and I like AC/DC because they're more gritty, down n dirty, back to the roots kind of thing. This is why they appeal to me.

But I like other bands so much more, there's more to rock than AC/DC. Some people will never admit that.

So everything that predates glam/metal sucks? Oh the Pandora's box you've opened up. You got so uppity with my accusations that Ac/Dc wasn't mindless frat rock and then you make a ridiculous argument like this.

Theres a huge difference between predates and influences. I don't think its ridiculous to say AC/DC were a big influence on that sunset strip metal scene. In fact I thought you were implying the same thing when you said "Why are their imitators such a pale imitation at best and why does their music endure more powerfully than the pretention and scale riding that came with their peers?" If you weren't referring to all those hair metal bands, then what bands were you referring to?

ACDC is mindless frat rock...

sleepy jack 09-07-2007 07:20 PM

Even if he did say that I hardly think it changes the fact that AC/DC is mindless frat rock except they have a classic rock following. Which doesn't mean much anyway, look at Rod Stewart.

boo boo 09-07-2007 07:22 PM

Frat rock isn't actually a genre, so technically no, they are not frat rock.

Thats merely a phony genre people come up with to discredit bands, for example "This non-existant genre sucks, and this band sux cuz they influenced it."

Essentially the same thing as when people call Zep c*ck rock.

sleepy jack 09-07-2007 07:23 PM

Indie isn't a genre but it doesn't stop you from bashing anything in it. I think we all know what he meant by saying frat rock.

boo boo 09-07-2007 07:59 PM

Frat rock dosen't have a huge following of mindless soul sucking clones.

sleepy jack 09-07-2007 08:01 PM

Yes, a following of idiot college students who care about nothing but getting wasted, laid and staying up all night is so much better.

Mr_headshot 09-07-2007 08:20 PM

It's all about the mood man.

A bunch of drunken idiots or pretentious douchebags who think they are superior to everyone else. At least the former know how to have fun. ;)

ahhh, gotcha. Heard their new song yesterday, Rock N Roll Train (I think it was called)... BORING. The music wasn't very edgy or exciting and Brian (the singer) sounds like he is hanging on for dear life to get through the song with little to no passion.
