AC/DC reunion tour?
My friend said AC/DC was going back on a reunion tour but I think theres no way thats gonna happen. What do you guys think?
|
I heard this too on the BBC Radio 1 a while ago but not seen or heard anything since.
|
Oh god I hope not.
|
Oh god I hope so.
|
They are a great live band-their music is souped up rock n roll and not earth shattering; but live is where they are at.
|
I read that they may reunite to promote the game Rock Band. I hope it happens- I really want to get to see them live.
|
As far as I heard, they have a new album in the works. Well, that's what Brian Johnson and Angus Young have been saying.
|
Stiff Upper Lip was bad enough...
|
At least it was better than Ballbreaker.

....
I heard they were making a new album. "Road Trama" or something.
|
I don't get AC/DC. They write unoriginal songs and everything is choreographed from their stages moves to how they have sex with each other after the show.

Because they're gay.

Explain how all of their hits sound alike, and almost all of their drum fills are annoyingly similar.

Well it hasn't stopped them from being one of the most widely recognized rock bands of all time with one of the most recognizable guitar players... I guess the millions of fans who have purchased the millions of albums sold over the last thirty years don't mind their sound. |

Seriously though, that argument is lame. |
Who here likes Jet raise your hand... Same thing there too if you are going to attack ACDC about "their hits sounding the same and have annoyingly similar drum fills"
|
But Jet sucks too...

Jet - Look what you've done |
I didn't say you liked Jet at all, but if we are going to attack bands like ACDC might as well throw Jet in there too... totally the same sound.
Unfortunately in this world people enjoy catchy music that you don't have to think about... And ACDC's lyrics and music may not be like too in depth but its pleasing and fun to listen to. Not all bands can be like Pink Floyd or Radiohead where the music is so intricate and engineered that all you think about is "wow this is so amazing, how did they do this?" Then when its said and done the song is over and you didn't really hear any of it. Its nice to rock out to bands that make you want to party and have a good time, and that is exactly what ACDC and bands who use that tactic do. |

Sorry, I just find that I can listen to Pink Floyd for a lot longer before it gets repetitave and boring than I can listen to ACDC.
|
I am glad for you.
|
:finger:
I like you. |
Sometimes, just sometimes, the arguments that take place here make me want to throw up and walk away.
Pink Floyd is not nearly as jesus-like as everyone here suggests and Ac/Dc shouldn't be taken for the idiot-joke everyone usually does. Everything is in such extreames, and they get that way because you rush past the important things and are too quick to defend. if Ac/Dc was so easy and simple, why were they the first ones to come up with it? Why are their imitators such a pale imitation at best and why does their music endure more powerfully than the pretention and scale riding that came with their peers? The answer is not that "people are stupid and like simple things" and if you can't come up with another answer thats logical then you're missing larger things and I might dare suggest that you don't understand music, and certainly don't understand rock music. |

Anyway, AC/DC was the band that made me listen to rock. I don't like anything after BnB. Bon Scott was a great writer, regardless of the music, he wrote good songs; and better Blues songs. You complain about the repetitiveness of AC/DC but, apparently, fail to see that ALL of the music they play is simple, basic, overdriven Blues with the lyrics to match. THAT'S ALL. They aren't amazingly talented, they aren't the best at composing or layering music; and they admit this. Angus said himself "We've produced several albums, 10 tracks and each one sounding the same. They sell, why change it?" You want to hear truly repetitive music? Listen to Robert Johnson, Skip James, John Lee Hooker ect. Seriously, almost all of the songs sound exactly the same; because they are. AC/DC isn't something you'd listen to while pondering the secrets of the universe, it's what you listen to while getting wasted and having sex. Simple as that. |
You have sex to AC/DC?
Hard and fast eh? I'm more of a Barry White myself. |
LOL well you know, depends on the mood.
It's obvious you like it romantic and emotional by your sig =) |

I've never cared for the whole sunset strip scene, it all sounds dated and unintelligent and its all very pompous and overblown. I think Kiss are a fine example of this, they probably put more effort into their merchandise then their music, which is pathetic. Same can be said for every hair metal band pretty much, except Guns and Roses. They probably spent more time focusing on their image, stage presence and make up then actual songs. Which isn't shocking if you listen to their songs, the same formula, and the same crappy party time lyrics, the music isn't good. AC/DC isn't good. I don't like the vocals, they're annoying screeching. Their average musicians from what i've seen, and its very repetitive as has been pointed out, they made the same song over and over as has also been pointed out and I guess they don't care. Because it 'sells' which is very 'rock and roll' I guess and i'm just 'too pretentious' to understand it. |
Wait. AC/DC were glam metal? >_>
And here we have an indie fan ranting about mediocre musicianship, repetitiveness and bad vocals? Hmm... Everyone knows AC/DC stick to the same formula, why it has to be so convenient for a Modest Mouse fan to repeat this every couple of posts is beyond me. If its a good formula (and AC/DC did have a good formula) then you should stick to it. And AC/DC didn't create this sex drugs and rock n roll mentality that you're blaming them for, they simply expanded on it and made it cruder, raunchier and frankly more entertaining. No one claims AC/DC are brilliant. People like their music because its catchy and fun, not because its intelligent and deep, which is a pretty pretentious reason to like music. Pfft. Intelligent and deep, those must have been the lies they told you to convince you that Patrick Wolf makes good music. ;) Just f*cking with you Ethan. |
AC/DC were an influence on that whole hair/glam metal thing.

Anyways, as far as an AC/DC reunion is concerned, I would only care about it if Angus & Malcolm were there. Their singer sucks, I only liked Bon Scott, and the rest of the band is mediocre at best. |
