Anyway, AC/DC was the band that made me listen to rock. I don't like anything after BnB. Bon Scott was a great writer, regardless of the music, he wrote good songs; and better Blues songs.

You complain about the repetitiveness of AC/DC but, apparently, fail to see that ALL of the music they play is simple, basic, overdriven Blues with the lyrics to match. THAT'S ALL. They aren't amazingly talented, they aren't the best at composing or layering music; and they admit this. Angus said himself "We've produced several albums, 10 tracks and each one sounding the same. They sell, why change it?" You want to hear truly repetitive music? Listen to Robert Johnson, Skip James, John Lee Hooker ect. Seriously, almost all of the songs sound exactly the same; because they are.

AC/DC isn't something you'd listen to while pondering the secrets of the universe, it's what you listen to while getting wasted and having sex. Simple as that.

I don't really see the point you made, you basically rehashed what its been said except made it sound positive. Some people don't like music thats all about "YEAH LETS GET WASTED! HAVE SEX! ROCK AND ROLL!" to me thats the stupid and embarrassing mindset that glam metal bands later would follow. So to sum this up, fuck sex, drugs, rock and roll. All the bands that came after AC/DC playing a similar type of music, Motley Crue, Poison, all that sunset strip crap basically stood for sex, drugs, rock and roll, partying etc, most of them followed all those cliches except for dying young. So thanks to glam metal bands of the 80s being too stupid to die. We now have a bunch of washed up musicians who are even more mediocre then when they were in their 'prime' going on countless reunion tours, playing casinos and state fairs for a bunch of rednecks in Kentucky. Thats just one of the reasons I hate AC/DC, what they stood for, and what glam/hair metal stood for.

I've never cared for the whole sunset strip scene, it all sounds dated and unintelligent and its all very pompous and overblown. I think Kiss are a fine example of this, they probably put more effort into their merchandise then their music, which is pathetic. Same can be said for every hair metal band pretty much, except Guns and Roses. They probably spent more time focusing on their image, stage presence and make up then actual songs. Which isn't shocking if you listen to their songs, the same formula, and the same crappy party time lyrics, the music isn't good. AC/DC isn't good. I don't like the vocals, they're annoying screeching. Their average musicians from what i've seen, and its very repetitive as has been pointed out, they made the same song over and over as has also been pointed out and I guess they don't care. Because it 'sells' which is very 'rock and roll' I guess and i'm just 'too pretentious' to understand it.

Wait. AC/DC were glam metal? >_>

And here we have an indie fan ranting about mediocre musicianship, repetitiveness and bad vocals? Hmm...

Everyone knows AC/DC stick to the same formula, why it has to be so convenient for a Modest Mouse fan to repeat this every couple of posts is beyond me.

If its a good formula (and AC/DC did have a good formula) then you should stick to it. And AC/DC didn't create this sex drugs and rock n roll mentality that you're blaming them for, they simply expanded on it and made it cruder, raunchier and frankly more entertaining. No one claims AC/DC are brilliant. People like their music because its catchy and fun, not because its intelligent and deep, which is a pretty pretentious reason to like music.

Pfft. Intelligent and deep, those must have been the lies they told you to convince you that Patrick Wolf makes good music. ;)

Just f*cking with you Ethan.

AC/DC were an influence on that whole hair/glam metal thing.

Modest Mouse don't follow the same formula, and not nearly to the extent AC/DC does.

I never said they created it, I just thinks its a bullshit mentality that they stand for.

that is just common knowledge.

Anyways, as far as an AC/DC reunion is concerned, I would only care about it if Angus & Malcolm were there.
Their singer sucks, I only liked Bon Scott,
and the rest of the band is mediocre at best.

The answer is not that "people are stupid and like simple things" and if you can't come up with another answer thats logical then you're missing larger things and I might dare suggest that you don't understand music, and certainly don't understand rock music.

Thank you.
