Dylans version with The Grateful Dead is probably the best. I've never heard Jerry shred like he does in that song

Is this on itunes? I've never heard it with The Grateful Dead.

Gotta go with Hendrix on this one.

Although, I also like the version by XTC.

I liked U2's version in Rattle and Hum.

I actually prefer Bob Dylan's version of All Along The Watchtower. Jimi Hendrix's version is still good, though.

Much as I appreciate the genius of Hendrix, I prefer Dylan`s version.
The sparse guitar and harmonica arrangement are the perfect background to the ghost ridden landscape conjured by the lyrics.

Symphonic Rock

Hendrix's version gets into and expresses the inner workings of the song far more than Dylan could have guessed existed. Kudos to Bob for writing this simple song, but with Hendrix a gothic vision and poetical penetration was achieved that Dylan simply could not achieve. Plus there's Hendrix's symphonic musical representation, with his layered guitars creating solid slabs of overlapping motive than further enhance the message. Quite an awesome musical achievement.

The Willies with Shawn Lane absolutely melting the guitar solo.

Saw The Tea Party live last night and halfway through one of their tracks they busted into a cover of Watchtower before smoothly jumping back into their original track after the solo, crowd went ape ****.

If I'd have bet a million dollars that this is Chula bumping this with the Shawn Lane version, I'd have a million dollars right now.

Maybe there's a least coherent post contest I wasn't aware of....

Not seeing what any of this has to do with coherency.
