I remember when Sergeant Pepper came out. My parents bought me a mono version of it because we didn't have a stereo back then. Apparently those old mono LP's are hard to find and command a lot of money when you can find them in perfect shape. Too bad I didn't keep it...

the mono version has a better mix as well

I voted White Album. So much variety on one album. The next best is a tie between Sgt Pepper and Abbey Road. Revolver is IMO seriously overrated, I think it's one of their worst ones.

Now if I could count "Past Masters, Volume 2", which collects all the non-album singles of the second half of their career, that would hands down be their best album.

Herocon 04-19-2011 08:03 PM

Abbey Road for me. It just seems to be their most exciting album. It's as if the Beatles wanted to go out with a bang, and they did!

Burning Down 04-19-2011 08:09 PM

Revolver is my favourite. To me, it's their most perfect, complete album from beginning to end. Abbey Road is a close second, but I obviously don't like it as much as Revolver.

Howard the Duck 04-19-2011 08:13 PM

My ranking:-

Revolver
Rubber Soul
Abbey Road
The White Album
With The Beatles
Sgt Pepper
Hard Day's Night
Magical Mystery Tour (UK version)
Help!
Yellow Submarine
Let It Be
Please Please Me
Beatles for Sale

NGPercussion 04-26-2011 06:05 PM

Abbey Road. Maybe its cliche, but I absolutely LOVED the medley, it was great.

s_k 04-27-2011 02:09 PM

Revolver > Abbey Road > Rubber Soul

In that order, according to me :)

Goofle 02-25-2012 08:24 AM

Abbey Road for me, followed by Peppers and Revolver. Really dislike their first few though.

Yield Bitch 02-25-2012 10:55 AM

Gotta say Abbey Road, especially when one takes into consideration that it was their real final album.

And I feel it was a great finale, "Let It Be" was too somber for me, Abbey Road was all about Beatles' ability to create music with fairytale magic.

Also Abbey Road is tight as hell.

I'd probably have to agree with you on that. The White Album is up there as well, on my list.

TheNiceGuy 02-29-2012 01:06 AM

Having had a good listen through their catalogue now I'm going to have to lean with Abbey Road. Good writing from all 4 members makes this one strong, but it's great in all areas.

My number 2 would be Revolver followed by Rubber Soul.

blastingas10 02-29-2012 01:34 AM

This is just one of those polls I'll Probably never be able to vote on. It's so close between the white album and abbey road, with revolver very closely behind.

Howard the Duck 03-01-2012 06:13 PM

still Rubber Soul

ribbons 03-01-2012 10:10 PM

My rankings (and favorite song from each):

Revolver (I’m Only Sleeping)
The White Album (Mother Nature’s Son and Long, Long, Long – picking two since it’s a double album)
Magical Mystery Tour (Strawberry Fields Forever)
Rubber Soul (Think For Yourself)
Sgt. Pepper's (Fixing a Hole)
Abbey Road (Something)
A Hard Day's Night (I’ll Be Back)
Help! (Yesterday)
Let It Be (Let It Be)
Beatles For Sale (I’m a Loser)
With The Beatles (Till There Was You)
Please Please Me (Ask Me Why)
Yellow Submarine (It’s All Too Much)

Frownland 03-01-2012 10:35 PM

Magical Mystery Tour rises to the top for me. I find that it has more texture than all of their other albums, and that it is only comparable to The White Album and Revolver.

Agree - and I like the film, too! I believe Magical Mystery Tour was John Lennon's favorite Beatles album, because (said he), "It's so weird." ;)

Frownland 03-01-2012 10:53 PM

As far as films go, I prefer Yellow Submarine. But when (and if) I'm in the same intoxicated state as The Beatles were in when they made that movie, my opinion will change.

William Zanzinger 03-04-2012 07:15 PM

Revolver was a great album, but they never really made a bad one.
BTW-although it has no votes, "With The Beatles" is a great album.
Their versions of "Money", "Please Mr Postman" and "You really got a hold on me" are sublime.

Captain Hands 04-12-2012 09:21 AM

Magical Mystery Tour!
then Sgt. Pepper's & Revolver

Lady Asana 04-12-2012 08:44 PM

I cannot pick just one favourite...for I loved everything they ever did! If I had to choose my top three;
Sgt Pepper
Revolver
Rubber Soul

Garrett 04-26-2012 07:01 AM

Rubber Soul followed closely by Revolver.....

steve0211 04-26-2012 07:09 AM

Abbey Road, followed by Revolver, and then Sgt Pepper and ...well what's the point?

Abbey Road is my answer and i am sticking with it. The cover is clever too.

Electrophonic Tonic 04-30-2012 08:35 PM

Let's do this...

1. The Beatles
2. Abbey Road
3. Revolver
4. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
5. Let it Be
6. Magical Mystery Tour
7. Rubber Soul
8. Beatles for Sale
9. Help!
10. Yellow Submarine
11. A Hard Day's Night
12. Please Please Me
13. With the Beatles

Key 04-30-2012 09:05 PM

I've voted in one of these before. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band still remains to be my favorite.

Howard the Duck 04-30-2012 09:20 PM

at the moment, it's Let It Be

strangely enough

I don't think that's strange at all. With songs like Across The Universe and I've Got A Feeling. Definitely a great album.

well, most people didn't like it cos they had very little to do with the final product

Meh. I don't really take that into consideration. I listen to it as an album, for the music. Whether or not they were involved in finalizing it doesn't bother me. I think it's a great album, and I enjoy listening to it.

It's still a Beatles album, and should be treated as one.

ShamWoww 04-30-2012 10:42 PM

Rubber Soul for sure just listen to In My Life.

Zefer 06-28-2012 02:17 PM

Rubber Soul of course, but With The Beatles really encapsulates that early Beatles feel!

LaraP 07-11-2012 04:07 PM

Abbey Road (this is my sentimental favorite, b/c it's the first album I ever remember hearing when I was little)
White Album
Rubber Soul
Sgt. Pepper
Revolver

Isbjørn 09-07-2012 12:04 PM

The White Album is definitely my favorite. It's unique, and it has some of the bands best tracks. Some weak and annoying songs though, but who cares.

Holerbot6000 09-07-2012 01:35 PM

Revolver but is has to be the UK version. Rubber Soul a close second. After that it's a free-for -all

Howard the Duck 09-07-2012 08:30 PM

still "Rubber Soul" for me

has the poppiness while being slightly experimental

Rock N' Roll Clown 09-13-2012 02:56 PM

Although it was very difficult to decide, I selected Rubber Soul and the catchy "Run for your life" is my favorite song from this album.

The choices you offer look like the European versions of the albums. I thought the early Beatle albums were very good. I thought Rubber Soul, Revolver, and Magical Mystery Tour were sub-par. I might say the same thing about Yellow Submarine, but I actually enjoyed that album. Had you combined Help and Hard Days Night, you would have had a good album.

HollowsTara 10-10-2012 08:06 AM

Definitely the White Album
