I think it's the diversity. People (I'm thinking casual listeners mainly) remember their standout tracks displaced from the bloated album and assume it's the best album.

I would've cut it down to:

Helter Skelter
Back in the U.S.S.R
Revolution 1
Happiness Is a Warm Gun
Birthday
Rocky Raccoon
Martha My Dear
Dear Prudence
Julia
While My Guitar Gently Weeps

Start off heavy then mellow out. Like a fat baby.

I mean I still don't get it because none of those tracks are outstanding, and they had plenty of outstanding tracks, on other albums or singles. Which is how I guess I would judge albums normally.

And what do we think about the Naked version of Let it be? Just gave it a listen, seems to be a bit of an improvement on the original, more mellow and better sequenced, to my untrained, not-a-big-fan ears. Hmm?

Idk I like both versions a lot, Get Back being my favorite Beatles track in general, but I can't really pick b/w Let it Be and Naked

Nah, I only chose great tracks. Music taste generally being variable probably explains why people have varying opinions on the album.

All outstanding Beatles tracks in my books. Let It Be Naked is nice as a novelty and an attempt to capture the original aesthetic of the album, but I've grown up with the original Spector-laden album and I prefer it that way.

Can't resist those obscure McCartney gems. Paul was always more experimental than given credit for. I love McCartney, McCartney II and RAM and his under-the-radar tracks throughout his career.

Daily trivia: Composer Jerry Goldsmith got the idea for using a recorder in the theme song for the late 60's-early 70's TV drama Room 222 from Fool on the Hill.

Even when I was a kid I always thought that was a really interesting theme song.
