Glad you like, im quite obsessed with the album at the moment

yeah it's a bit fantastic, a really good find. The first half has the most punch, then they freak out. I'm spreading the word about Simply Saucer. The name is so 70's aswell. Wiki has some cool stuff about them, 'Rust-belt punk' Simply Saucer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

edit: Cyborgs Revisited - ''It was compiled from various archival recordings by the band, who had only ever released one 7" single before breaking up in 1979. The album's first side was an unreleased demo produced by Daniel Lanois and Bob Lanois in 1974, and the album's second side was a 1975 concert recorded on the roof of Hamilton's Jackson Square.''

Those Canadians!

Exactly, i love both halves of the album for diferent reasons, the first is packed full of excellent, powerful garage rocks songs with catchy hooks and lyrics. The second half is a psych out, you totally find yourself immersed in it. The progression is quite superb.

Yeah i checked out their wiki! I dont understand how this band have managed to remain so anonymous

Molecules 01-21-2009 08:17 AM

probably that total lack of output during their existence, I think fancy studio production would have ruined their aesthetic anyway. It's garage punk motherf*cker!

Sneer 01-21-2009 08:21 AM

But even then, some of the bands that people talk about on here are ridiculously obscure. Cyborgs Revisited is an absolute gem, you would of thought somebody would have unearthed it before now! Though i am quite happy i did, and you're right, they do piss all over the Electric Eels... the band that led me to them haha

Molecules 01-21-2009 08:22 AM

I swear every time I look up a group on the choob this guy has done a video for them

I found this album last year while on one of my downloading sprees.

Should have had a lot more attention than they did.

Sneer 01-21-2009 09:24 PM

The more i listen to this the better it gets. Its becoming one of my favourite 70s albums rapidly

Molecules 01-21-2009 09:34 PM

if I had to pick two highlights of the Simply Saucer (that name is fantastic) sound right now, it would be 'Electro Rock' and 'Mole Machine'. Any song titled 'electro rock' these days would be 100% horsesh*t, 2008 is going to be such a slog.

And they really, really sound like New York Dolls. Just less glam and more 'heavy metalloid music'. In the spirit of the music I'd also like to mention Johnny Thunders & the Heartbreakers, they were beyond cool

Sneer 01-21-2009 09:38 PM

Mole Music is a highlight, as is Eltectro Rock, as are the Here Come The Cyborgs' songs, and Illegal Bodies. Bullet Proof Nothing is great aswell, a nice surprise of a pop song hidden away amongst the scuzzy spaced out psychedelic jams.
