Greatest Live Albums of the 60`s and 70`s
Peoples thoughts, on some of the great live albums of this period.
Some of my greats are as follows: Who-Live at Leeds Deep Purple-Made in Japan Cheap Trick-At the Budokan MC5-Kick Out the Jams Humble Pie-Rockin`the Fillmore Tubes-What Do You Want from Live Yes-Yessongs Neil Young-Live Rust Blue Oyster Cult-On Your Feet or on Your Knees |
LOL, I'm not allowed to post links yet.
Amazon has a selection of those, just Google them. My personal favorites are from Queen (Wembley) and Pink Floyd had some great shows. I also love Bob Marley and the Wailers Live at the Rainbow. Also anything pretty much from CCR be it studio or live albums make the grade for me. |

Greatest? Humble Pie - Rockin' The Fillmore. (Vinyl is the best, if you can find a nice copy!)

You can never fail with Springsteen & E Street Band live, so "Live At The Hammersmith '75" and "Live 75-85"
Bob Dylan - The Bootleg Series Vol. 4: Bob Dylan Live 1966, The "Royal Albert Hall" Concert, all Bootleg series are supreme, but this is the best for my money. Johnny Cash - At Folsom Prison/San Quentin Neil Young - Live at Massey Hall 1971 David Bowie - Stage.....now apparently the original version wasn't liked, but I only had the 2004 which I like, so yeah, good stuff. James Brown - Live at the Apollo |
Metallic K.O. by Iggy and the Stooges

Hendrix - Band of Gypsys as mentioned previously. My personal favourite Hendrix recording, it's as perfect as perfect gets.
The Who - Live at Leeds, again already mentioned. And this http://www.johncoulthart.com/feuille...ace_ritual.jpg |
Check out a Boston 60's and 70's hometown band for a great live album: J. Geils Band "Full House". Although critics have trashed the Stones "Get Yer Ya Ya's Out" it has always been one of my favorites. The person that listed Neil Young's Live at Massey Hall definitely knows what they are talking about! Townes Van Zandt had a few great live albums, too.

I have to say The Band's "Last Waltz" is easily my favourite live album of all time -- have you seen the lineup of that performance? It was like a mini-Woodstock, and the production of the DVD is fabulous.
