LOL, I'm not allowed to post links yet.

Amazon has a selection of those, just Google them.

My personal favorites are from Queen (Wembley) and Pink Floyd had some great shows.

I also love Bob Marley and the Wailers Live at the Rainbow.

Also anything pretty much from CCR be it studio or live albums make the grade for me.

This is a great one too (dumb I forgot to mention it seeing that I have this album too), but I meant the one at London's Rainbow Theater in 1977.

Greatest? Humble Pie - Rockin' The Fillmore. (Vinyl is the best, if you can find a nice copy!)

I heard this album for the first time only a couple of years ago despite having heard the rest of their stuff yonks ago, agree its amazing and a live album never to forget and showcases the bands hot and sweaty sound.

You can never fail with Springsteen & E Street Band live, so "Live At The Hammersmith '75" and "Live 75-85"

Bob Dylan - The Bootleg Series Vol. 4: Bob Dylan Live 1966, The "Royal Albert Hall" Concert, all Bootleg series are supreme, but this is the best for my money.

Johnny Cash - At Folsom Prison/San Quentin

Neil Young - Live at Massey Hall 1971

David Bowie - Stage.....now apparently the original version wasn't liked, but I only had the 2004 which I like, so yeah, good stuff.

James Brown - Live at the Apollo

LoathsomePete 09-05-2009 10:17 AM

Metallic K.O. by Iggy and the Stooges

This is a good selection, especially throwing Bowie in there.

This is one of the few things that I haven`t heard by the Stooges, truth is I`d long forgotten about it.

Problem is, most of the Doors live stuff is chopped out of various concerts and pasted together and lacks the continuity of a great live album from just one concert.

zeppy111 09-06-2009 05:31 AM

Jethro Tull - live at Isle of White 1970.

Great album.

Definitely worth checking out if you were half-amused by the previous album.

The Who - Live at Leeds, again already mentioned.

Check out a Boston 60's and 70's hometown band for a great live album: J. Geils Band "Full House". Although critics have trashed the Stones "Get Yer Ya Ya's Out" it has always been one of my favorites. The person that listed Neil Young's Live at Massey Hall definitely knows what they are talking about! Townes Van Zandt had a few great live albums, too.

captaincaptain 09-29-2009 09:14 PM

Live Rust is definite must listen.

I know their "Showtime" Album which was as released ten years later in 1982. The J Geils band always had a reputation as being a great live band anyway.

My experience of Pete Frampton is based on his work with Humble Pie and that's the only solo album of his I actually like.

PinkCigarette 10-02-2009 03:18 AM

Deep Purple-Made in Japan tops it for me. Great band, great album. My dad listens to it non-stop.

Whoa, I didn't think there was anyone who didn't know about Frampton Comes Alive. Maybe it's just a U.S. thing, but it's probably the most famous live album ever recorded.

Peter was a lot better in Humble Pie, imho, though.

I have to say The Band's "Last Waltz" is easily my favourite live album of all time -- have you seen the lineup of that performance? It was like a mini-Woodstock, and the production of the DVD is fabulous.

thin lizzy

i like thin lizzy--live and dangerous

proto-punk 12-12-2009 09:36 PM

In no Particular Order

MC5- Kick out the Jams
Stooges- Metallic K.O. (im used to the quality)
The Who- Live At Leeds
Emerson Lake and Palmer- Pictures at an Exhibition
Various Artists- Woodstock

Psy-Fi 12-12-2009 10:37 PM

The Allman Brothers Band - "The Fillmore concerts"
I'd put it in a top ten list of live albums from that era.

MultipleChambers 12-19-2009 07:47 AM

The Doors

Check out The Doors bootlegs, if you can find them download them, may not be the best quality, but there a must if your a Doors fan.

rocklynnpress 12-20-2009 08:38 PM

The Band - "Rock Of Ages"
Peter Frampton - "Frampton Comes Alive" (the mixing and production is phenomenal)
