Default Music Journalism Major Needs Help

I'm reviewing obscure bands for a music journalism class and I need recommendations for good rock and roll bands that stick to the 60's and 70's style.

If you can leave me a link it would be much appreciated but a name will do just as fine.

Thanks.

Do you have any examples yourself of what you think is the 60s and 70s rock & roll style? I think of rock & roll as a style from the late 40s and 50s which evolved after that and although some played rock & roll in the 60s and 70s, I'm wondering if you may have gotten the timing a bit wrong(?).

When I think of 60s rock, what comes to mind first is psychedelic rock and blues rock/early hard rock like Cream, The Who, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Jefferson Airplane, The Grateful Dead, early Pink Floyd, The Crazy World of Arthur Brown and The Beatles.

When I think of 70s rock, I first think of prog rock and hard rock. Prog bands like King Crimson, Yes, Pink Floyd (again), Gentle Giant, Genesis, Alan Parsons Project and hard rock bands like Deep Purple, Boston, AC/DC, Heart, Aerosmith, Blue Öyster Cult .. note that many of these existed in the 60s as well.

So I guess this is not what you're after?

I would highly recommend reviewing Television's debut album Marquee Moon. It's guaranteed to score you some cookie points with your professor.

I'm more looking for modern day bands that have the stylings of 'classic rock'

Television was a great band to reccomend but they are too old to review as current and I've already done a piece on them.
