you got aerosmith on vinyl, damn keep that in good condition and it will be worth somthin nice when one of the members die, and with there age, that could happen in a matter of a few years.(and there previous life style)

^ Maybe. I have two of theirs on vinyl actually. That, and the greatest hits one.

Aerosmith
Get Your Wings
Toys in the Attic
Rocks
Draw the Line
Live Bootleg
Night in the Ruts

All great, American rock and roll albums.

Then came Perry & Whitford quitting, a couple of ok albums, with a couple of good songs on each. Then came sobriety, Perry and Whitford return, then the death knell, MTV/Run DMC.

Aerosmith went from good, crunchy rock and roll to passable, predictable, formulaic top 40 records. They've had their moments, though. A few good songs here and there, but mostly nondescript blah offal.

I did, however, like Jaded, the first time I heard it.

I don't know if they just got fat on the corporate dollar, just ran out of steam, or what, but they don't have the grit they had before. Of course, they are 25 years older now, as well. Maybe they've just mellowed.

Yeah, everyone knows those albums because they all got their play back then, but don't forget the classic album when JP joined back, Done With Mirrors. That album, if any, was a great way for the band to not only come back with JP, but also was their last "classic" hard-rock sounding album before they got a lot more hits 'n tits...lol.Done With Mirrors is an album that any Aerosmith fan should own. It's much better than their new stuff and even a lot of their old stuff, so check it out soon!!!

While Rocks is probally my favorite of the bunch, Done With Mirrors, Toys In The Attic, Night In The Ruts and even Pump/Get A Grip are also some of the best albums the band has or ever will put out.No matter what kind of Aerosmith fan you are, they have atleast 3 to 4 albums that are desirable, cheers!!!

I liek some aresmith stuff, and other stuff is just over done.. I like mostley there balleds haha.. yea thats right there very emotionally lovey songs.. and I liike alot of there hard rock n' roll sound in the late 70's and begining of the 80's..

bruise_violet 07-15-2006 11:24 AM

I think I like their old stuff and newer stuff equally.

I'm sure they lost a lot of male fans though.

I agree with everything you say. Done With Mirrors is very underrated. And Pump and Get A Grip were the last two cds I bought and listened to. I bought Nine Lives, but could get through it more than a couple of times.

Yes, Permanent Vacation, Pump, and Get A Grip, in my opinion were the cds Aerosmith 'made the transition' with. They had that MTV crap on those cds, but also had some really great cuts.

Wild7, you're obviously a fan. These are my favorite cuts from those three cds:

Eat The Rich
Flesh
Fever (any time Tyler plays the harmonica, I'm in)
St. John
Hangman Jury
Simoriah
Young Lust (grabs you by the throat)
F.I.N.E (lyrically, Tyler at his raunchy best)
Monkey on My Back
Voodoo Medicine Man

It's no coincidence that these songs are the ones I like best off those cds. These are the ones that evoke visions of Aerosmith past.

As far as vinyl, I have everything Aerosmith released on vinyl up until Permanent Vacation. In a box. Somewhere.

Yes, I'm still a fan and I'm not gonna throw away any of those great classic albums if their next album turns out to be the biggest piece of trash ever!!!Rocks will forever rock...it's sound will never change and the songs you mentioned above, such as Young Lust, Eat The Rich and F.I.N.E. will always be great tunes, ya know?By the way, do ya know what F.I.N.E. really means, because I could tell ya if ya don't...lol?

And to the person saying that Aerosmith was running out of male fans, guess what...I'm all man and still a fan. It's just disappointing that they couldn't continue on with that deep, dark, bluesy, hard-rockin' sound that they were best at back then.On the other hand, they do have great love songs, but seriously I don't want 50/50 when it comes to hard-rock/love songs by Aerosmith.Everyone knows who Aerosmith is now, so I hope that they can atleast go somewhat back to their late 70's/early 80's sound...
...just imagine how hard THAT would hit "Right In The Nuts" again...lol!!!

Have you heard them?

Much closer to the original raw R & B style of their early albums than anything on Done With Mirrors
