Default Jimi Hendrix

Most Rock music fans are also fans of Jimi Hendrix. What are your favorite songs and albums by him? I'm a big fan of most of his classics like "Purple Haze", "All Along the Watch Tower" and "Red House". I've got a few of his albums too.

Thumbs up

As I mentioned in the other Jimi Hendrix board, I like:
Littlw Wing
Purple Haze
All Along the WAtchtower
Drifting
Angel
One Rainy Wish
Voodoo Child (slight return)
and more.

I liked how he didn't stick to one genre of music. It allowed me to appreciate other styles of music

Default Hendrix

ive gotten into Jimmy Hendrix a lot lately- foxey lady, crosstown traffic, all along the watchtower, voodoo chile and manic depression have to be his best songs. what do you think of the great man and is there anyone who is (or has the potential to be) like him around today?

Depends what aspect you're talking about. A frontman who plays guitar and advances the instrument to a level unparalleled before? Probably not. To advance it higher today would take an astronomical amount of skill as well as an "outside the box" thought pattern. If thats the case I would say Buckethead is the man. But he doesn't sing.

Its really really tough to say. I mean, there isn't another pete townshend around today and I think he blows. Its hard to have "another" of anyone because usually they are so similar and are mocked to death and berated for such plagerism.

I think Jack White will be huge, and I love that people can't get past his voice, because it fends off the bandwagon riders who would says hes great to be cool and ruin the band.

No one can ever be as good as hendrix was.....he had his own style of guitar playing, like it had JIMI HENDRIX written all over it, very beautiful songs he made like angels had blessed him to play as well as he did....no one will ever be as good as he was

No one is gonna be "like him". he revolutionized rock with the combination of blues, jazz, rock and soul. there was nothing like it at the time and he made it into something awesome.
