Here's a tune from a guy who was certainly a vocal influence on Lux Interior, Charlie Feathers. Feathers never had a big national hit but was a big influence on a lot of musicians.

I went to see The Cramps many years ago at a club in Boston. Richard Branson of Virgin Records and Virgin Airlines was in the audience along with a bevy of stewardesses from his airline. Lux took off his shirt and climbed up onto the stack of amps and writhed around with the mic stuck in his mouth at one point during the show.

It was in the early 80's. I'm not sure if she was in the band yet at that time.

Mungo Jerry - Hippty Cat Mama

A one it wonder in the US with he skiffle tune "In The Summertime", the band had more success in Europe. They (or should I say "he", since Ray Dorset is the only constant member) had a greater range than skiffle, as this rockabilly number from 2007's Naked From The Heart album shows:

This isn't one of Buddy Holly's better known songs. But if I had to pick a favorite song of his, it would be this fine rockabilly tune:

I first heard of Roy Hall via Nick Tosches' book Unsung Heroes Of Rock 'N' Roll. Hall certainly was such an unsung hero, as songs like the following demonstrate:

Despite the photo, Roy plays piano on this tune.
