for me, folk is simpler music, with less distortions, etc. i guess that would generally fall under the acoustic category, but i don't think folk necessarily must be played...

the dresden dolls are great. they aren't my favorite band or genre, but i love their music. i've never heard anything quite like it. i'd love to see them in concert one of these days.
