Ya his "blues" album is really great. There's one song I don't like, though - "mannish boy". I just don't really like what he does with it. I much prefer muddys version.

Very nice cover. I like the finger-picking, it's always nice to see someone else who doesn't use a pick.

If you want to see some serious wanking, this is the cover to watch; it's acoustic as well....

I think mr Dave is right, he just didn't know the technical terminology. I think he kinda just developed his own theory, or his own way of understanding how it worked.

Sometimes the best stuff you will come up with is spontaneous, just getting caught in the moment. I think that adds a little more feel to it. You can definitely put to much thought into it.

As far...

Neither venture out of the pentatonic as much as Santana, though.

I'm probably not as good as y'all. I've just been playing like 2 years now. I have no way of recording or I would post some vids....

Of all the songs of theirs I've learned, Hendrix ventures out more than SRV. Guess it just depends on which songs.

Ya, Lenny isn't too hard. I could probably learn SRV's Little Wing, it'd take me a while, though. It'd be easier to just know the notes he's using and do a little improv. Learning note for note is a...

Hendrix wrote the core of that song, SRV just elaborated. He did a great job, but it's harder to do what Hendrix did. He wrote that from scratch and there was really nobody who played like that...

Nicely put, Hendrix was a brilliant songwriter, much better than SRV. I'll always prefer Hendrix's Little Wing. There are live versions where he does more soloing, if that's what you like.

SRV was a more pure blues player, so maybe Hendrix couldn't play Texas Flood like him; but he'd add his own Hendrix style and possible make it even better, just in a different way.
