I'd say that since you are posting lyrics in public, then your self esteem isn't too low! :) Asking for opinions is brave and it is nice that you actually take them to heart rather than ignore them completely, given that you asked for them.

About beating yourself up over lyrics...maybe you are just your own harshest critic, which isn't a bad thing at all. It sounds like you have a goal for your writing and so you know if it isn't quite meeting that goal.
