Yes, but you have 'started' to. That's my point.

I hope you do stay here, I hope you do contribute, I hope you do enjoy it. Should you contribute you should be welcomed and accepted here. I'm just offering my reasons why this may not have been the case so far and to confirm a few rules.

Anyway, enjoy the forum.

So that`s a no on the redirecting? look. For real. Past is past, and we started off on the wrong foot. I`m actually quite satisfied with this forum - and I think that its WAY better than some of the other one`s ive seen. Don't let my sarcasm and pettiness fool you - i`m not angry about anything, and i`m quite amused with the irony itself (you know, about how the minute I started to complain about being ignored, people started showering me with replies), as well as some of the responses ive got :)

Don't worry - I think that your doing your job here wonderfully! (not being sarcastic). Don`t worry - I will. Thanks! :)

If it's your music, then good effort for promoting. Anyone who knows anything about the music industry will know that if you want to get anywhere these days you either a) go on short-term quick-fix ready-made fame schemes like the X Factor or The Voice, or b) promote yourself. Well done for doing the latter, it is a more dignified route.

Yeah, except it's clearly stated in the rules that you CAN'T do that here. Period. There are no threads to advertise, ever. So no, he can't ignore everyone and do it anyway. He'd get banned.

And Voice... you're kinda acting like a dick in here man. Being hostile is not a good way to make friends.

Mr. Dave was being critical, in the best possible way. He was blunt but kind and letting you know his opinion, which is what you asked for, so you responded by being an ******* and mocking his own music. That... is really jerk move.

And then you angrily lashed out at mods and users alike, because you were pissed. Also not cool.

There are occasionally events around here where people share their music in a non-spammy way. I honestly hope you participate in them, it's always good to have another musician around. But for the love of glob, chill out and be NICE about it.

Take a good look at the reactions the original post in this thread generated, then try pretending like it's between people you're not associated with. How awesome does that snarky defensive voice really seem if you're actually capable of hearing it as something besides your own?

Just because 'my' material is not pro-quality (by choice btw) doesn't mean I don't know other working professional musicians or haven't learned from them. One of the KEY elements that crosses all styles, especially when it comes to promotion is a professional attitude towards the public.

Fact is, and will continue to remain, until you get over yourself and drop your attitude, it's not going to matter how 'good' your resulting music is. NO ONE worth performing with on a paid stage wants to / nor will deal with a brat. (You're no Mustaine either).

Thanks. Glad at least some people got the gist of my post. :thumb:

Although most of this post falls into the category of tl;dr, I think VoiceX was not trying to spam and just get some analysis of how others felt about his bands music, although the manner in which he opted to do it wasn't the best.

I'd encourage a moderator to close this thread, before feelings get hurt, VoiceX is new here, so should be given a degree of leniency regarding his comments in this thread.

I'm sure given time he can prove to be a decent member of the community, and he actually is a pretty cool guy from the conversations we have shared thus far. I have encouraged him not to continue in the manner he has done so in this thread, and hopefully we can just delete this thread and let bygones be bygones.

Checking em out now...

Pretty freakin cool! Diggin the orchestral sounds on Lived To See. Just getting into Chapter One now... so far so good!

Very bombastic and collosal, and I mean that in a good way. I saw one comment mentioning some DT influence, and I'll have to agree. Great stuff mang, and I have a couple friends I'll be sending the link to.

On a side note, a persons tunes don't have to be perfect. It's what sounds good to YOUR ear, and it's all relative to what you like. Sure there are ways of making a certain sound more pleasing to ones ear, but in the end if you're happy with it, then that's really all that matters.

Really liking the techno feel on The Dark One's... still listening.

Mankycaaant.
You already know what I think. Besides. As I mentioned here before, I already told Mojopinuk that I will not address what I think is no longer relevant. That wasn't sarcasm. I meant it, and I take nothing back. Ill reserve the rest of my opinions. That`s all.

Plankton & musik-chik: Thank you very much! I`m not really allowed to talk further on this thread, so ill talk to you elsewhere :)

You're allowed to talk in this thread, but since you put it in the Songwriting section, people are expecting to see some lyrics. Don't use this as bait to get people to visit your website.

If you're gonna remove the self promotion, remove it from his goddamned location...

Freebase Dali 05-10-2012 03:47 PM

Actually, he's allowed to have his music link in his sig.
I think it was removed in response to him creating a thread pointing toward it so early after he joined... it was seen as a self-promo.

Since he's now aware of the rules, and knows he needs to do more contributing than promoting, he can police himself in that regard (and add his signature back if he wants).
