First attempt at making a song baked and probably one of the best Snzzzov*en tracks thus far

That's not sayin much lolilolololololololololool that was only kind of a joke

I'm coming through with some post rock mashed together from minimalist psychedelic chamber jam crescendos and no wave climaxes and tape drone passages then back to the noise funk

Thank you.

So.... I've been messing around in FL Studio and made this https://theidentitymatrix.bandcamp.c...uanaut-demo-ep
Wouldn't mind some feedback. It's still really rough especially in the mixing.

Pretty cool actually. Here's some thoughts about each track.

1. Dr. Riot Shield
The main melody feels like it's 90% there, but like it's just not quite as good as it could be yet. There's a single note in it that spoils my mojo a bit. This is not a flaw, just my subjective reaction.
Other than that, it desperately needs a bass track to really underscore the melody and the melodic changes/repetitions. This could add a helluva lot in my opinion.
Turned out to be my favorite of the four tracks.

2. Trapped on Frozen Star Nine
Seems louder than the previous track. Not that it matters since they're rough mixes. Generally, I think it sounds interesting, but that high pitched sound gets rather piercing and overall the track leans too far to the trebly side of things. Some more low end and/or mid tones would do it justice, depending on the segment.

Structurally, it also feels like it could be doing something to stay interesting a bit more successfully. It feels like it rides a bit too long on certain ideas with little change, until we then finally get something new happening near the end.
I like the rather odd progression, but it feels like it needs tweaking.

Not sure I think the noise at the end works at all. If it led into a track with a more abrasive feel, then yes, but it doesn't.

3. Love at First Light

Piercing, loud tones aside, there's a lot to like here. Feels like a more full sounding track than the previous one. Mixing is really the main thing that holds this one back, which I'm sure you're aware of. So, if in trying to say something you might not have thought of, I'd say the track needs some kind of exciting change after two repeats of the main progression. A key change would do wonders, honestly.

4. The Deepest Trench
I'm glad it wasn't going to just be an atmosphere track. The beginning works really well, but I do like that it radically changes all of a sudden. Again, some more bottom end and some bass could really underscore it. It does eventually throw on some more bottom end, but the progression sounds a bit tame before the extra layers of heavy synths come in. Some general mixing/fleshing out of what goes on in the background is really what I think this one needs more than anything.
It is the track I like by far the least of the three, but for what it tries to accomplish, I think it's getting there.

Hope you can use that feedback for something.

I really do like a lot of what's going on here. The video game music comparisons are obvious, but I really do think that there's a lot of unique style to this, so just comparing it to 16 bit soundtracks would be unfairly reductive.

I don't enjoy trading comments for comments since I listen to people's music out of genuine curiosity, so I'll just sort of dump an edit I did of my most recent track a few days ago with no strings attached:

I changed a bunch of small things and fixed a few flaws, plus other adjustments. Feedback would be welcome, but I'm not holding a gun to anyone's head. Listening to my music is punishing enough as it is

I was just going through my old folders with all the music I've finished and there's definitely a few things that stand out. I uploaded this track here since I feel like it doesn't really sound like anything else I've done before or since. It almost has a sort of "club" feel to it since there's a very electronic dance music like kickdrum. I'm not sure I could write anything in vein again if I wanted to - like it comes out of some frame of mind I can't get back to.

it's the first bit of my post rock album series that will also incorporate chamber jazz, tape music, glitch, no wave, musique concrete, funk, psychedelic/krautrock, avant-folk.
