I do the mixing and mastering myself I just prefer having studio quality recordings and input from the engineer. You can do basically everything at home these days with cheap software but recording takes having the hardware and space to do so.

Edit: You can absolutely get away with recording on just a ****ty computer mic if that aesthetic fits the sound that you're going for. I've always played with the idea of using the distortion from a $20 one to see what I can do with it. Everybody has their own creative process and in mine I just drastically prefer studio recordings over home recordings.
