Hey thank you very much! Yeah it's hard to classify For Now as truly ambient because there's a lot going on in some of the tracks. My next album is probably even less "ambient" so that'll probably be a good thing for you! Really glad you enjoyed it

Love the titles! Just curious, what does Metanoia and Avulaion mean/inspiration?

Avulsion refers to two things tearing apart

Metanoia basically refers to a profound change in someone's way of life

Inspiration for this album pulled very heavily from my real-life experiences over the past ~6 months. Those experiences have been brought up a few times around here but I think from reading the song titles carefully you can piece together what I've gone through

This is my final project for my capstone class (communication theories). Here's my equally pretentious companion explaining the piece:

“DOI” is a minimalist industrial representation of the theory of Diffusion of Innovation. The song begins with a single beat thudding through each phrase before it’s joined in by two different noises. This represents the innovators that help bring an innovation throughout society. Periodically, more sounds are introduced into the loop to the point where some kind of conventional rhythm occurs, which reflects the early adopter stage where a product is more widely recognized by the public. Slowly, the loop grows more and more dense, reflecting the early majority stage. Then we get to the point where the rhythms become so cacophonous that it basically becomes white noise, which mirrors an innovation as it becomes profoundly prevalent throughout society when the late majority and laggards take in the product.

The piece was also performed on a Moog style synthesizer, an innovation that has swept the music world and even sparked new genres around it. The Moog synth became popular once Robert Moog introduced a traditional style keyboard to his synthesizers. This was more compatible with the musicians of the time than the synths that Moog’s competition was making, which were simply knobs, buttons, and other nontraditional controls which, while they may sound just as good as a Moog synth, can be alienating to someone who knows nothing about electronics.
