The MB Musicians' Genre Extravaganza
 

Simple idea:
Every MB musician who wants to participate gets a genre randomly assigned and has to record a track that corresponds to it.

I'd suggest that we keep the genres as general as possible to add variety and to give everyone enough creative space.
So:
Metal
Blues
Jazz
Pop
Punk
Folk


Since I kinda doubt that more than five people will participate, I'll keep it at that for now.

Deadlines and details to be decided collectively.

Can we add classical, or is that too difficult for those who have to actually play it? (I'm just programming my music, so I could pull it off in theory.)

Depending on how many participate, nobody might get it or some of the others of course.
Electronic would be a bit limited for those who want to use instruments.

Folk = totally.

With electronica, I was thinking it might be hard if some just play their guitar.
I guess they could manipulate the recording afterwards, in which case ambient is also totally up for grabs.

Non-participating members could form an official panel of judges. We could get Trollheart to invent an ineccessarily complicated scoring system.

No. Everyone gets genres randomly. At least try. I'll also struggle with some of this stuff but who cares. Classical is out anyway.

I didn't know hip hop was a race.

Hip hop is a predominately black genre and a huge piece of black culture.

They left it off because they obviously are a part of the white supremacist power system that refuses to respect black culture as high art.

I thought about adding hip hop. But rapping is hard and instrumental hip hop is difficult to do for guitarists and such.
So, are you participating Lucem, or are you chicken?

Rapping is easy, it's rhythm and rhyme.
Drugged out teenagers do it all the time.
Just make a beat, or maybe steal it.
Then rhythmically rhyme, can you feel it?

It's much easier to passably sing than to passably rap imo.
Rhyming is not the problem, having some kind of flow is.
Rapping isn't talking, after all.

does it have to be a new track because I have literally all of these covered already
