And almost without exception were all jazz musicians signed up by Gordy.
I think I posted this before somewhere, but The Funk Brothers played on more number one hits than The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones and Elvis...combined!

Good, original Motown artists? There's a whole list of them. The Funk Brothers of course then there's The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Marvelettes, Mary Wells, The Supremes, Jimmy Ruffin, Jr. Walker and the All-Stars, Marvin ***e, Tammi Terrell, Martha and the Vandellas, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Barrett Strong, Edwin Starr, The Contours, The Andantes (who sang background for just about everybody), and the Jackson 5. Whether they were famous or not, they were apart of that magical, musical machine called Motown.
