Innervisions and Songs in the key of life are filled humanity. Real people playing real instruments (mostly him). Today's artists need to make a big sound and when you hear their music they all have a wall of sound coming at you. Things are added to make the inferior songwriting sound good. Especially pop music. He was once pop music. Much better.

I absolutely agree. If you really like Stevie, don't limit yourself to just a few albums. I personally can't think of one song that I've heard that I thought was unlistenable and I've been listening to his music since the 70's (on 8 track even) :yikes: He has such a feelgood sound that even the cheesy songs are enjoyable.

Innervisions is an amazing album!

Strangely enough he hasn't learned Higher Ground. As great a bassist he is, he's only just starting to delve into the slap/pop technique - he has always played fingerstyle. I mean Higher Ground doesn't need to be slapped, but it is the standard beginner's slap/pop song, so I guess that's why he hasn't learned it yet.

I know Stevie played most of the intstruments but did he play that bass part? If so, kudos!

I really like most of Stevie Wonder's work, he has to be one of the most talented artists of his era, having said that one album he did that I can't recommend is "The Secret Life Of Plants"...I tried half a dozen times to try and find something I liked about it,,,but never did. I should add that it was a double album soundtrack so maybe my expectations were too high to begin with.

Stevie Wonder is sooo brilliant, that he created an album completely dedicated to the perspective of flowers, if they were able to think.

The Album is called: Journey Through the Secret Life of Plants.

Thanks for the proper album name, I was too lazy to look it up and it's been over 20 years since it bought the album, it may have been a brilliant concept, but it did not make a lasting impression on me anyway,,,I like the 3 albums I already listed and consider Journey... to be his least accessible work, if you are a die hard collector then maybe a case could be made to include this one in your collection.
