Stevie Wonder

Well we need a thread on this guy.
I'm still very new to him ( I only have Innervisions, Songs In the Key of Life and Talking Book so far) but he has been getting a lot of play time from me lately. It's been a while since i've been this excited over an artist.
Innervisions is a brilliant compact collection of songs, with some of my highlights so far. I'm not sure if that is my favourite or Songs In The Key Of Life. The scope of that album is incredible, most albums of that size fall down and suffer due to what they're trying to achieve, but this has enough great jams, ballads and downright inspired pop songs to be a firm favourite with me.
Even the cheesy one's are growing on me!

Here's a fave song, I Wish. Later to be sampled by Will Smith of course!

Thoughts anyone?

Innervisions is a phenomenal album and I don't think people realise how many instruments this guy plays. Big up.

Those are pretty much all you need I don't think he ever bettered those three.

Look out for a bootleg called Funkafied Rainbow. It was a gig of his recorded at the Rainbow Theatre in 1974 by Motown as a possible live album that was later shelved. It's him right at the centre of his creative peak and is a fantastic album. If you do a google search on it you should find it pretty easily.

I'll remember to give that a look, i want to get a few more albums first though.

This guy is sensational. My favourite tracks from this guy are, Sir Duke and Uptight.

'Hey Love'...my favourite Stevie Wonder track from the album 'Down To Earth'.

People don't realise how long this man has been around writing and making music. 'Hey Love' was written in 66 age 16.

His first album was made aged 12!

stevie a genius

Spot-on, you just can't argue with his songwriting, a real-life prodigy. I only have two of the so-called classic run of seventies albums - 'Innervisions' and 'Talking Book'. 'Songbook Collection' aswell.
'I Was Made To Love Her' is his genius encapsulated into one song for me.

Innervisions is an awesome album. And I've been hearing a lot of him lately because my flatmate has taken it upon himself to learn a few of his basslines.
