Default Your favorite funky & soulful girl groups?

this is for the all-girls groups of oldschool R&B and Funk. lets hear about your all time favorites?

here's my top 14. Also wouldnt mind others' suggestions since I like the girl groups so much :p

The Emotions
First Choice
High Inergy
The Jones Girls
Klymaxx - the bad ass ladies of the 80's!
Love Unlimited - Barry White's trio
The Pointer Sisters
Stargard
Sister Sledge
The Three Degrees
A Taste of Honey - Boogie Oogie 12" is still the jam!
The Ritchie Family - especially w/ Vera Brown on lead.
Krystol
Alton McClain, & Destiny - short lived but Alton's sweet voice wins me over

Not So Many Girl Groups Out There But These Are Some Of My Faves-

Stargard- Best Of The Bunch!
Parlet and The Brides Of Funkenstein- Both Related To George Clinton And Parliament
The Mary Jane Girls
The Jones Girls
And I Know This Is Cheating But Mary Davies Of The SOS Band And Gwen D- ickey, One Time Lead vocalist With Rose Royce; Both Brilliant!

The Ikettes deserve a mention in this thread. Probably the hardest working girl group of all time. Take a look at the artists that took part with the Ikettes through the years...The Ikettes - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I defy anyone to come up with higher quality female singers than the ones listed in there.

I'm contesting Brenda Holloway being included in that list...as far as I'm aware she never sang with the Ikettes...one in the eye for wiki?

Here's a sample of the talent. (slightly dodgy vid, silly camera work only lasts for about 90 seconds in... the rest is not to be missed)
And this vid is worth watching through to the end, as it includes a great cover of 'Come Together' with an on form, charismatic Tina Turner.

Great choices. Other additions are:
Patti Labelle and the Bluebelles (later known as Labelle)
Mary Jane Girls (protegees of the late Rick James)

yeah definately Labelle. I'm not too big on them personally but I respect their legacy. Same with the MJG.

Some more I like:

Musique
Inner Life (featuring dance club diva Jocelyn Brown)
Coffee
Aquarian Dream
The Sweethearts - worked mostly as a background trio, I do have a 12" single by them though. They are: Barbara Ingram, Evette Benton, and Carla Benson. Barbara Ingram was also part of the Ingram Family & Philly Cream bands.
